On my way to Africa. God I can't believe the day is finally here. It hasn't quite set in that in a few hours I'll be in a completely foreign continent. When one thinks of Africa, all of these romantic notions come to mind. I don't mean romantic in a lovey way, but in more of a classical sense. Its were all the wild creatures are and where there are still vast stretches of no human habitation. It's just such a massive space. I wish I was getting the chance to see wild elephants and lions and zebras but apparently there aren't any anymore in Ethiopia. Just baboons. I'm starting to get a little nervous. Wondering if I'm really doing this and if I'm really actually ready for it. Im excited too. This will be an unbelievable experience. I'm intrigued to see how things will be different back home and in Gville when I return. I'm curious to see how I will be different. I mean, it's impossible to go camping in a tent in the African wilderness for seven weeks and not change a little. I'm sure my roommates are hoping I'll be neater. Lol. I'm hoping I'll be more relaxed. The past year has caused me unbelievable amounts of stress and I'm really looking forward to forgetting about a lot of things for awhile. In the beginning i decided to do this because i desperately needed an escape from gainesville. I have s terrible habit of running away to foreign countries when i get too overwhelmed. Be that as it may, it has really turned into quite an adventure, not to mention "I'm leaving for africa soon" is a great pick-up line. Haha! I don't think I'll be home sick but I'm betting I'll be missing food like cooked steak and sweet tea. I will definitely be thinking of all my friends and roommates - you's guys better drink/party extra for me while I'm gone!! Lol, but seriously. I'm so unbelievably excited to come back and go to Ultra. They released the second listing of bands yesterday and the lineup looks phenomenal!!! Though I'm still sad Paul van dyk won't be there. I'm also a-little worried about where I'm gonna stay in Miami since idk who's going and I'm flying back on the 24th but hopefully something works out and if not then I'll jump that hurdle when I get there. I'm currently en route to Atlanta, listening to NiN - Ghosts soundtrack and regretting the fact that I didn't download the Tron soundtrack. The clouds look like a fluffy ice flow below and directly next to us are a bunch of those plumes left behind by other planes. Its looks almost like an air highway. Kinda cool. The captain says we're over Gainesville and says GO GATORS! Haha I wonder if he's an alum. Im meeting the rest of the team in atlanta and then we're all flying to amsterdam together then into africa. I've never been to amsterdam. Last time i had to choose between there and paris and obviously i picked paris. Its going to be freezing (20-30degrees) but still, i cant wait!! Then from there its just i little jump to sudan and a hop to ethiopia. From here, looking east I can almost imagine I see the coast of Africa...almost :)
