14 years old,
and life is a blur,
struggling to find,
some strength within’ her.
Nothing to do,
Nothing to say,
But sit in her room,
Every night and pray.
Her friends have their own problems,
They couldn’t care less about hers,
So she stands by herself,
In this so called “life” of hers.
Going to school,
The best part of the day,
To get her mind off of,
Whatever’s coming her way.
The bell rings at three,
Please, just one more hour,
There’s no way she can go home,
When her life is this sour.
She walks in the door,
Hoping things have changed,
Hoping it was all a dream,
Hoping her mother controls her rage.
But it’s just the same routine,
Day after day,
Another bruise, another cut,
How did her happiness fade?
Whatever happened,
To her loving family?
What changed their lives?
That she’s not understanding?
Mom and dad divorced,
Brother left town,
Now she has a new stepfather,
Staring her down.
She lies on her bed,
And closes her eyes,
Searching hard,
For some hope deep inside.
She can’t help, but wonder,
What she’ll become,
Her life can’t go on like this,
But there’s nowhere to run.
Nothing can help her,
There is no cure,
The pain inside of her
Is too strong to endure.
She creeps downstairs,
To get something done,
To finally end,
The life she’d never begun.
Mom’s in the kitchen,
But doesn’t notice her,
She wants to fix this,
So she sits down next to her,
She starts a sentence,
“Mom…..why….”
but chokes on her words,
as tears fill her eyes.
She goes to the garage,
Tears streaming down her face,
She’s present on Earth,
But her mind is in space.
She finds a rope,
And ties it tight,
Longing to end,
This dreadful night.
This is what’s best,
She convincingly thinks,
My only way out,
Of this terrible dream.
She climbs up on a chair,
And attaches the rope,
This is my only choice,
‘Cause there is no more hope.
She jumps of the chair,
And ends her time,
Leaving a note,
It’s your fault, not mine.
note: Most of this poem is not true. It was a poem I wrote so that we can get a feel of what some kids our age go through.
