I had a wonderful weekend, Saturday Andy and I hung out with my brother Jay for a bit, and because it was a lazy sunny kind of day we decided to shoot some hoops... which was more me attempting to get the ball into the ring, and getting about 3 all up and andy showing off.
We went to Leah's birthday dinner on Saturday night, it was actually really good, I got to catch up with people I don't see much and it was really very pleasent. Afterwards andy drove us into the city and we went to the greenroom. I was expecting it to be another boring hardcore show, but I actually had a lot of fun, and laughed heaps. Make the Most, who I have never heard or heard of before we soooo funny, it was like going to a show at someones house. haha. Then the Stallion, who I haven't seen before played, and they were really good. Jase was funny getting involved with the audience and trying to start a pit..
Andy and I left after the Stallion, and we didn't really know what to do so we went to federation square and sat on the steps taking in the beauty of Melbourne. We looked around at all the builidings and discussed the diversity we have in our beautiful city! We walked along southgate, ate Ice-cream and had cute chats about everything!
Sunday, we ate yummy chickpea kebab's and watched Jamie play rugby with Jay. Lucky Jay was there to explain what was going on because we really had no idea. It was actually really interesting, I find it more entertaining then AFL, and the different tactics they use are really quite amazing.
Sunday night we had dinner at Andys, and his sister Emma, brought his niece Hayley over. Such a cute little baby, she was so good, just lying quietly and doing her grumpy face. hahaha
This Thursday i'm going to NEXT for the first time in ages, April and i are going together. We went for lunch on Thursday and had fun adventures. I got to drive around my BMW, which was so hot, not so much when the sunroof was open and it rained, but still hot.. Then on Friday we hung out again. this time to highpoint for Spice Box, i think I'm addicted, especially to their tofu!! It was so much fun, we got lots of clothes and like true girls as soon as we got home we tried them on.
Anyway, apart from that update of my life, today I have been reading up on animal cruelty, and i have to say it really makes me feel sick, but I want to know what really goes on. I know a lot of people, would rather not know and be ignorant to the painful ways these animals with feelings are treated and killed, as i was like that too, but I wish that more people would read what I have been reading. You would never want to eat a steak, roast, chicken etc ever again. For example, did you know the chickens that we eat, are only babies, they are 6 weeks old. In those 6 short weeks, they go through more stress and cruelty then a whole person would go through in a life time. They are forced to grow at unatural speeds, which causes them stress, heart problems, and many end up being too heavy for their own legs to support and so broken bones and hips are not unusual. This is only the begining!
My family has a chicken as our family pet, and "Chicky's" life expectancy is about 10-12 years, however battery hens only live for about 18 months, and obviously those chickens reared for meat only 6 weeks.
We take the lives of these animals, for so called nutrition, how ridiculously unfair.
