"I wanna hear you laugh like you really mean it
Collapse into me, tired with joy"
Well what can I say except - wow.
Last night was the long-awaited Snow Patrol gig up in Kentish Town.
It would be wrong to say it didnt rock my as-ever odd socks off - because it really did.
Wasn't too impressed by the 2 support bands - 'The Gears' and 'Deus' (or something)
As I heard someone say last night, you either get 2 amazing bands who really get the crowd going, or 2 that go down like a lead balloon. Last night was most definitely the latter. But it matters not as those weren't the important parts of the night..
So after a very long wait - we got what we'd been waiting for. The one and in-fact only SP.
Gary came bouncing on stage like a helium filled space hopper - which he continued to do all night in fact.
Hit off with 'Wow' and the rest of the set list went something like this:
Chocolate - Good old Final Straw classic. One of my favourites!
It's begining to get to me - Nice upbeat track off the new album. Arms in the air and away we go..
Hands Open - Ah the reason I got crushed. Good old Mr Lightbody leapt off stage and proceeded to run his hands through the crowd. I got pushed forward but he shook my hand so hey - i'm grateful!
Spitting Games - Yet another Final Straw choon. Whole crowd singing along is always good
Shut your Eyes - The whole crowd clapping in time to this was a bit amazing I must admit!
Chasing Cars - A joint favourite of mine off 'Eyes Open' - should I be so brash as to label it as the new 'Run'?
Olive Grove - Old old classic from their 2nd album. And with some added help from Ben the trumpeter. I shouted 'We love you ben' during a lull in noise. Got some odd looks, but hey whats not to love about a trumpeter called Ben?
Grazed Knees - Love it!
Headlight On Dark Roads - ooo Dark track, but oh so amazing. Sounded great, light show was fabtastical too.
Make This Go On Forever - I just wish it could've done
How to be Dead - Crowd pleaser once again. After 3 kids.. lets sing!
Ways and Means - final straw track. 'nuff said!
Run - Well what can I honestly say. An entire audience singing every syllable, every sound. wow. I can imagine there isn't anything more humbling than that, and by the look on their faces, particualarly Gary's, i'm right!
You're All I have - The long awaited new single. There were hands in the air, people jumping around like rabbit on springs. Needless to say it was amazing and one people had been looking forward to!
Then they toodled off stage. Slow hand clapping began in the crowd (as always) lots of noise and back they came for an oh-so-brilliant encore!
Open your Eyes - Right now this is my favourite track off the album. A song which literally takes my breath away and leaves a knot in my stomach. The way it builds up.. just amazing. I'd been looking forward to this one all night, and it left me in awe. This song is pure brilliance. Both live and on the album
Tiny Little Fractures - What a way to end. More jumping, more singing.. more good times! Was just a shame we all knew it was the end..
So that was it, the sound of crushing plastic underneath hundreds of clambouring feet signalled the end. But then, the techies were clearing the stage and what came flying my way.. only the bottle Gary had 2 minutes before drunk out of it. I caught it, the thought of "keepsies?" flashed through my head but instead decided to drink it. Hey how often are you going to get the chance to share a bottle with Mr L? Not very!
So all in all - I had an amazing night. Shame my camera went fuckity up but still managed to get a fair few pics (which can be found in le photos of my msn space section oddly enough). Got some on my phone too which'll be uploaded when I get a USB cable for it.
Did lose my travelcard though which meant I had to spend £4 on a bastard tube ticket home. But hey - was worth the money.
Got home to see the end of the TBA gig too.. atmosphere didnt look anywhere near as immense as last night, but hey. A gigs a gig.

Until next time music fans..x
