10 days seems like a lot.

It's been awhile since I've blogged.  That is because life this past week (or two) has been hectic.

Since the 1st of June I have had my car in the shop for an entire week getting my windows and the in's and out's of my car fixed.  $1,000.00 later, I have my car back.  I have been working like a mother and had taken a friend of mine in from getting kicked out of her house.

Nova is an 18 (19 on Sunday) year old who doesn't have a family.  Like, literally has no one.  She became a ward of the state when her mom went to prison a few years ago.  She never knew her dad.  Her boyfriend broke up with her last Friday and kicked her out of their house.  I was the first person she called.

I had been giving her rides to and from derby every week for the past few months.  We always have lovely chats and she makes me feel old.  In a way, she became like a little sister to me.  Our talks were as deep as they could get in two 15 minute rides twice a week.  Which, surprisingly, can get pretty deep.  She's an old soul and I care for her deeply.

Because I was the first one she called, I immediately swooped her up from Kids Kingdom and brought her home.  Of course I called Ray and explained the situation and we agreed to one week of keeping her so we could figure something out.

Her week was up yesterday.  She has since went to Katy and Sean's since they have an actual bedroom for her.  She had been sleeping in our office on the futon since we just recently had torn down the wall to our third room to make into a dinning room.  Also, she doesn't have a job and neither Ray nor I felt comfortable housing someone without a job, especially since we made Glenn move out so we could live alone together.  And he had a job and was paying rent.

I digress.  Though I feel bad not being able to keep her here until she can get on her own two feet, I know it's something that I had to do.  She is 18, afterall, and I can not promise that I can keep her until she decides to get her shit together.  I have lived far too long like that in my previous relationship.  And believe me, it's not worth ruining my current relationship over.

Anyway.  I slacked last week pretty hard with her being here and us trying to figure out her life.  I'm making sure this doesn't happen again.

I have since torn my groin muscle and it is quite irritating.  I am continuing to practice as well as resting it on my off time.  Derby is in full force and it feels nice, though a bit overwhelming at how much it is taking over my life.  I have become a great skater and am catching on to the entire game nicely.

I have a lot more to say but am lacking the time to write.  I will do my best to keep this up better.
