i tried to squeeze everything under a reply but it wouldnt go sooo i had to post it in order fo ryou to see soo sorry for the exposure.

I wrote more in detail but it got erased so sorry if this all seems rushed and excuse my grammical errrrors hahaa.

Just to let you that I'm not an expert, in this. All my product knowledge or knowledge in general all come from sephora's training, and my own personal experience.

OK firstly clinique 3 step sucks no I'm kidding it works for some and for others it just doesnt cut it-mom used it for years and still does. I actually used it myself before i started working at sephora. It was fine but compared to the results i'm getting now. It wouldn't stand a chance.
Anywho the reason why you probably broke out, might mean the clinique is actually doing something for you. Sometimes when your skin is exposed to something new it can react because it's actually spitting out the dirt, it then produces a blemish. With some products, or depending on your skin you might need to continue using a product before you know whether it's right for you. With clinique in particular, when i used the 3 step straight for 4 months, then stopped for a bit. I found when I returned to it, it cause me to break out. I had to be religous with it and use morning and night. for me to finally see results.

Another explaination, for why you broke out. May be because you're stripping to much oil from your skin. I know that the toner from clinique uses alot of alcohol and that's super drying, harsh astringents can make acne worse. Your skin needs to be moisturized even if you have oily skin. That's why a moisturizer is so important. When you strip the oil away your sebaceous glands become more active, because it wants moisture so it produces even more oil, and that makes you break out.

ok now to treat the blemishes or to prevent them :

Glycolic acids- will slough dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. It will exfoiliate, and renew the look of your skin-great for minimizing the appearance of scarring from blemishes, also wrinkles ;)

Salicylic Acid- thins the sebum (combo of fats made out of lipids and debris of dead fat-producing cells) it's basically the oil on your skin. It will also unglog pores. Great for cystic acne. The type which has not surfaced and is forming beneath the skin.

Benzoyl peroxide- helps eliminate the bacteria which cause acne.
Great to get rid of current blemishes and prevent when you feel like one is coming.

Hydrogen Peroxide-like benzoyl but it's good for sensitive skin.

i'm not saying use all of those but use the one that targets your biggest concern.

just keep those things in mind
i know you mentioned that you have sensitive skin but if you want to try any of those find one with a very low percentage-At the back of products it will list their active ingredients and their percent. IF you do choose to try one out use it just once a week, that especially goes for the glycolic (in a toner form) and salicylic. Usually in canada it really hard to find an AHA with a percent higher than 8-which will be way to high for you anyways.

If you want a good cleanser for sensitive skin. That you can use practically eveyday. Try one by Peter Thomas Roth-whole line pretty much good for sensi skin. Anyways, it has 3% glycolic in it. There's other things in it which are going to be soothing aswell so it's not as harsh.

I don't think you need a toner if your using a glycolic. It's too much now.

As for moisturizer, try the oil free moisturizer by B.Kamins. Has SPF 15 which is great if you use any AHA. YOU HAVE TO USE SPF's even if it's winter.

And to treat for those rare break outs, I LOOOOVE the b.kamins medicated acne gel it has 5% benzoyl in but there's bio-maple compound so it's not super drying, it's a spot treatment so you shouldn't worry too mcuh about how strong it is.

I accidently told a client that i use it every day almost all over my skin to prevent break outs (which i do). She bought it and did the same. And she got a bad reaction. I never recommended that she do what i do. but i did forget to tell her to try a spot test first. To see if she gets any reactions. My bad.
If you are really scared about reacting then try a small amount of the product on the inner part of your arm or behind your ear/neck. And see what happens in 24 hrs.

as for anything just to make your complexion better use anything that has vitamin c and e they work better together this is going to help you with your radience. A good percent of the moisturizers in my store do have antioxidants which will definitely benefit your skin.

I found that THE ABSOLUTE BEST SECRET WEAPON for making my skin glow was pomegranant juice. Just cause it's packed with powerful antioxidants-which means lots of vitamins. So try that too, I personally love the taste. The one i buy is by NEWJUE and it has a blend of blueberries. You get a lot more for your money rather than buying that small bottle of POM.

anywho i don't know if that helped but let me know how it goes or if you have any other questions. If your ever downtown toronto and you happen to be at the eaton centre come find me at sephora and i'll try and help you out.
