It's not bad luck. It's community "free" theater. It's run by people who never made it and wished they had. Community theater in Sacramento is all about money, politics and back-stabbing. It's a hobby here, nothing more. Talent is not the main criteria, it's about "one-upping" the "other" company to see if you can steal their main squeeze, or find someone who can carry a tune that they haven't cast yet. The reality is, as Morales says, this is nothing. No one who makes a difference in the real theater world cares who has the lead in Sac Town. If you don't get a part, big deal..take up scrap booking or mountain climbing. Even if you do get the LEAD..big deal,so what? How will it change your life? Maybe some co-worker can come see you and say "wow you have a good voice". This is also what they would say if you got really drunk and sang your heart out at Karaoke night at the local bar. It isn't going to propel you to Broadway..it's a hobby, nothing more. You have an amazing voice but you weren't cast in Davis California...oh well.

although i appreciate your comment and wish i knew who you were so i could ask you about this comment what i get from it is, false. if you know anything about me, you would know that theatre is a HUGE part of my life...community or professional. musical theatre and dance makes me who i am. so if a co-worker (which i dont have any) came to my show and said good job, it would not make much difference to me. what makes a differance to me is, being on stage, performing, having to learn lines and music. that is what i get from theatre. that is not something i will get from scrapbooking or rock climbing. so, to me...it is a BIG deal. but, thatnk you for the post.
