It's official--Chelsea have completed the signing of Juan Manuel Mata. Bienvenido, Juan! Gotta say I'm digging the interviews and reports on him I've heard so far, not to mention the beard. I think all our boys should grow beards, to be honest. ;P
In other good news, Chelsea Reserves won 0-1 at Bolton yesterday, and here's the best bit:
Sam Hutchinson returned to Chelsea's second string in defence. The defender had announced his retirement last season but has been training a few days a week in preparation for his coaching badges and has been involved in some practice games to gauge how much physical loading he can take before actually playing at any level going forward.
According to the report a composed Hutchinson and Chalobah partnership prevented Bolton from threatening Chelsea's goal and later Hutchinson kept the score goalless when he blocked an Obadeyi shot before scissor-kicking the ball from danger. !!!! Yay, go Hutchy! I'm so pleased that he might get to play again, even if it turns out not to be at the top level. But he'd better take it easy with those scissor-kicks, bless him!
Meanwhile Didier Drogba was asked about the 2012 Olympics:
What would your event be?
100m. I would love that. I would finish last, but who cares! Among the Chelsea players, maybe it would be between JT, me and Lamps, the old ones!
Who would be in your Chelsea 4x100m relay team?
Nico, Sturridge, Jose Bosingwa and Obi Mikel! To see that would be funny!

'I had two jerseys of Drogba, one to sleep in (Aww omg! ♥) and one to wear when I went in the street to play,' he said, adding that he had posters of Drogba and Anelka on his bedroom walls and that he subscribed to Chelsea TV. 'To watch those little videos of two minutes, just to see how they train, I even did that. I wanted to be prepared. I was truly crazy. When Chelsea won 3-0 at Arsenal I was in the street screaming.'
I feel like Lulu and I have so much in common, we should totally hang out and be BFFs. We could discuss Chelsea and our mutual crush on Didi, and I bet he's an excellent cuddler. What a shame that he's jailbait and I live on the wrong side of the pond. :P Can't wait to see him and the other newbies on the pitch!
ETA: This song is so brilliant. If only I had a sugar daddy to support my Chelsea obsession and pay for me to live in London for half the year. *sigh*
