I shall triumph! Er, sort of...

Remember back in August when I was bitching about missing the Perseid meteor shower? Well, last night this morning I dragged my arse out of bed at three-thirty and, armed with hot chocolate and a sleeping bag, walked to an empty field near my house to watch the Leonid meteor shower. I pretty much froze said posterior region because it was a beautiful clear, crisp night, and annoyingly there was still quite a bit of ambient light from the city. But I did manage to see ten lovely meteors in about an hour, not counting others that I may have glimpsed out of the corners of my eyes and including one long, bright one that even left a trail. \o/ So pretty! The other highlight of the excursion was mocking watching left_sider trying to sit up while completely encased in her sleeping bag, and basically looking like some kind of giant, demented slug. Good times! XD

Now I am attempting, only moderately successfully, to stay awake at work when there are three things I would much rather be doing: sleeping in my bed with my mattress heater, doing research for my Yuletide assignment, and watching the extras on the Star Trek XI DVD that comes out today. Luckily I will be going out to pick up the latter straight after work, assuming I'm still conscious by then. Blooper reel FTW!

P.S. In case anyone is wondering, Carlo is doing well following his surgeries on Friday and is expected to make a full recovery from the accident. His BFF Petr visited him in hospital right away and reports that he is in good spirits and feeling optimistic. ♥
