Fandom Snowflake Challenge, Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Bit By The Snake - the Unit, gen. I finished this about 18 months ago and it's still one of my favourites. It's Bob and Kim's daughter Serena, her siblings, and Lissy and Jen Gerhardt as adults, basically counting the cost of growing up in the Unit. They never chose that life but they had to live it, and it was a totally screwed up environment that affected all of them. And all it gave them, in the end, was each other, because, as Kim tells Tiffy in the season one finale, "only those who have been bit by the snake get to tell each other how it feels."

Always Darkest - Stargate SG-1, Sam/Jack. I wanted to write a post-ep for Ethon, and it turned into a story about Sam and Jack and how they're a little bit screwed up, individually and together, and it's this new relationship that they still don't quite know how to function in but they love each other so they'll get there in the end. I like the dialogue in this one as well. And Cam.

You Will Know When You Get There - Firefly, Mal/Kaylee. This is an old one - like January 2006 old - but I think it's still the longest thing I've ever written. It was also the hardest, and in retrospect maybe I went overboard with Kaylee's voice. I feel like I learnt a lot from writing it, in terms of the mechanics of writing and word choice, but since I wrote this I've found it a lot harder to turn off the inner editor as I write. But I'm working on that.
