i still believe that i will post about serenity. but that moment is not now.
my copy of extraordinary machine FINALLY arrived today. hey, amazon! PREORDERED means i should get it ON TIME, bitches. two days was forever to wait! but it sounds good, so for the moment i'm going to overlook the broken jewelcase. (rrrrrrrrrrr.)
today i walked outside to the map store so i could get a new mexico guidebook, and it was closed down in an extremely permanent-looking way. so i walked up to borders instead, which of course meant that right after i walked away from the cashier holding a copy of this year's fodor's, i had to do a u-turn and get right back in line clutching a
big fat history book i
was amazed by recently. i am a huge sucker for accessibly written histories. i am just like my grandmother that way, the one who lives by herself way out in the desert. so much so, in fact, that i'm going to send her this book too. the only question is, should i keep this copy for the trip or send it to her now and order another one for myself? i think it will depend on what other books i feel like reading when i'm about to leave for the airport. but this one is looking awfully tempting right now. maybe i will distract myself by emptying my most visible living room bookshelf and refilling it with the histories that are scattered around all my shelves. that sounds like fun! because i am a geek!
