It's seems like I post only when we/I get a new device. Today I bought a new pc for us. Not a new mac, which will come eventually, but a pc. It's a refurb from factory direct. For the money ($500) it's quite a nice machine. It has a dual core 2.8 P4 with 1 gig DDR2 ram, 250 SATA2 drive, 2 DVD drives, media card reader, firwire and usb2 front and back, optical (SPDIF) out, 5.1 surround sound and xp media center edition 2005 with license. The onboard intel accelerated video is 128mb but I'm going to upgrade to a dual dvi 256 PCI express video card. We can add more ram later (has two free slots).
All I have to do is load it up with software and switch the machines at the desk. The older Dell machine will make a fine file server and downloading machine. It still works fine but is slow with photoshop etc.
The new machine is lightning fast! It's also fully Vista ready as is.
