Holy Camping Batman!

How do you turn an air mattress into a life raft?  Just add water!

This was the scenario Sunday morning as Caitlin and I saw our tent filling with water.  The weatherman(may his testicles rot off) did not predict the massive 3 hour plus thunderstorm that tore through our campsite.  So in the wee hours of the morning we were woken up by thunder and lightning and scrambled to put the fly on the tent.  Thunderstorms in a tent are INTENSE.  Those big thunderclaps that normally rattle your house instead rattle your teeth.  It was fun though, I enjoyed it.  Then I realized the Christmas lights we had strung around our tent were still plugged into the junction box and the extension cord was sitting in a puddle.  So a mad scramble ensued.  Caitlin got there first and yanked the cord, thankfully not getting electrocuted.  Another hour or so later we realized we were set up in the low ground of our site and our tent was in a puddle.  Despite having a good tent, waterproofing only does so much when you are deluged and sitting in a puddle.  So we watched with alarm as our air mattress became a life raft and we listed off all the things we had left out the night before that would now be ruined.

Then the best part came.  Instead of being upset or angry....we laughed.  We made jokes.  We had fun.

I realize many people wouldn't have done that.  They would have considered their weekend ruined.  Instead we made it an adventure.  That's one of the things I love about Caitlin-she is a very positive person.

It was also the most uninterrupted time we'd spent  together.  Friday through Sunday.  And we didn't want to kill each other and weren't sick of each other....call me crazy but I think this relationship is gonna work.
