the wind began to switch, the house to pitch! then suddenly the hinges started to unhitch!

i watched Twister last night for the first time. i love the ride at universal, and sean was like "i can't believe you've never even seen the movie" so we fixed that. (quick list of other movies i have yet to see: top gun, star wars, mission impossible, jerry mcguire, lord of the rings, indiana jones, gone with the wind, sleeping beauty.) but it was so good! weather terrifies me, b/c there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

anyway, we watched the movie, and then while it was rewinding, the news was on, and it just so happens that a tornado ripped through indiana or someplace random yesterday, causing extensive damage, and killing i think 18 people, etc etc. it was SO WEIRD to be sitting there, not 5 minutes before, watching a simulated tragedy, with computer generated storms and purposefully destroyed set pieces....and then to flip the channel and see the real thing on tv. it was like a bad trip. b/c at the end of the day, those actors went back to their houses that were still standing, to their families that were still alive...and then to see these people on the news, standing on top of a pile of wood, which they used to call home, digging through shingles and glass, looking for anything salvagable, b/c, what else do they have to do? that is their life now. god. i can't even imagine. at least with hurricanes we get a warning, ya know? we know days in advance and we can pack up and get out. but tornados are just soooooo random. wow. i would probably be a lot less freaked out if i hadn't just watched bill and helen try to survive one for two hours. thanks universal studios! gosh!

following that story, pirates attacked a cruiseline carrying american passengers. yes, pirates. ready for the best part of the story? sitting on the coffee table were our two movie choices: twister, and pirates of the caribbean.

i looked at sean and said, "you realize we control the world, don't you?"
