Part 2: Christmas and a Baptism

Mark's Parents flew into Columbia on Christmas morning. Because of the silliness with his Dad's flier miles they were forced to spend Christmas Eve in Newark. On a plus side to that, they took a private car tour of NYC when they arrived so at least they saw more than just the airport and a hotel room.  I made eggs bennedict for breakfast before Mark headed out to get them though we didn't have time to invite my grandparents over. We briefly went to my Dad's house for about 30 minutes. Only me, Mark, and Patrick went otherwise I knew we would never be able to keep the visit to 30-45 minutes. Dad had to work that night and I wasn't going to be the cause of him not getting enough sleep! We had dinner at mom's house with all the fixin's and my grandparents, Uncle John, his wife Donna Jean and her son Micheal all came to eat as well. Most everyone did well at remembering we would have to lug all of the gifts back to Denmark with us and got us things we needed/asked for.

Patrick was baptized at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church on Saturday, January 5. and Noel and Jennifer are his Godparents. Of course Noel had to toss out lots of references to the "Godfather" movies lol It was a really nice time and lots of my family and several of my friends came to celebrate with us. We ended up catering the party afterwards ourselves. Though we did take a few short cuts one of which was to get the chicken salad from Bubba's BBQ. If you live in or close to Spartanburg you MUST try this stuff. Afterwards, we had some people over to mom's house for chili and beer. Luke, Kay and Carson came up from Myrtle Beach and it was such a great time. I just wish we had more time with them! Jennifer, Noel, and Tammy spent the whole weekend at mom's house with us. I am so glad they were able to come and be with us so much!

usa, patrick
