Patrol duty. Oi. Who would have thought, after all these years of carefully avoiding Prefect duties, and being one of course, that Andy would get stuck with them, AFTER he graduated? Where's the justice

Marlow grinned to herself wryly. She stopped just in her step and slowly turned around to see Andy. She had one hand on her hip and the other firmly holding her wand. She cocked her head to the side and rose an eyebrow.

"Maybe patrolling," she told him. "And what about you, huh, lovely?"

Faking an exasperated groan, he said, "Oi, not YOU again."

Grinning, he continued, "Buttt, if patroling is what YOU'RE up to, then it sounds like we're stuck in the same game. Who woulda thought, after all these years of avoiding responsibility, I get stuck with it now?"

[marlow]

"It sort of boggles my mind, I'll be dreadfully honest."

Marlow couldn't help but laugh brightly just as she said it. It was a rather strange sight. Though, lucky Andy, right? She winked at him.

"Care to patrol with me?"

Grinning and extending his elbow like an escort, Andy said, "I certainly don't see why not."

[marlow]

She took his arm with a rather girlish bat of her eye. As they began to walk again, she realized how much she missed her older friend. It had been a long while since she had seen him.

"So, how are you?" she asked him, making conversation.

"I'm pretty good," he began, although a grin did begin grow on his face as he said, "Other than the whole patrol duty thing. Who woulda thought that patrolling would be involved with being an Auror?"

Glancing over at his newly found armcandy, he asked, "And what about you? I've seen neither hide nor hair of you since the year started."

[marlow]

"It's rather frightening," she told him before nudging into him playfully.

"But nothing much has really happened since I last saw you," she continued casually. "Just spending most of my time with Zacharias."

Nodding, he said, "That's cool... How was your summer? I don't think I saw you even once!"

[marlow]

Marlow frowned even as he said it. She had been thinking it as well and that made her a little sad. For as long as she could remember, she and Andy had hung out. He even crashed her Gryffindor party that one time.

Silly times.

"Nope," she said, shaking her head. "Kind of sucked without seeing you, I'll admit."

[_andy_andreyno_]

"Pfft, kind of?" he scoffed, "More like super, really."

[marlow]

She laughed while she bumped her hip playfully into his.

"Shut up, you," she told him. "I bet you were crying all summer because you couldn't see me!"

Gasping, he turned, and spun her to face him. Fear covering his face, he stammered, "How...How did you KNOW?!"

[marlow]

That was it. Not barely trying to keep her laughter contained, she broke down into a fit of giggles.

Grinning, the only word to leave his mouth was, "Victory."

[marlow]

She shoved his arm again, though still grinning.

"You're such an arse, Andy!"

[_andy_andreyno_]

"But, you still love me," he said, chuckling a bit.

"And besides. I wouldn't be fun if I wasn't."
