Not all those who wander are lost
I rewatched LOTR this weekend, and HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER, I love it to pieces. ♥ It is utter perfection, basically, and so epic - so much so that I felt the need to picspam ROTK in all its visually stunning glory. There are spoilers for the whole movie under the cut, and it's definitely not dial-up friendly. I'm trying this new coloring technique out; I hope you enjoy! :)

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING
Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come.
In this place I will abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world
Merry and Pippin break my heart sometimes.
Sam: Mr. Frodo, look. The king has got a crown again.
This scene always breaks my heart. Poor Sam. ;_____;

BONUS PRETTY.
Éowyn: Courage, Merry. Courage for our friends.
Pippin: I didn't think it would end this way.
Gandalf: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path...one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass... And then you see it.
Pippin: What, Gandalf? See what?
Gandalf: White shores...and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
Pippin: Well...that isn't so bad.
Gandalf: No. No, it isn't.
Witch King: You fool. No man can kill me. Die now.
Éowyn: I AM NO MAN. (\o/)
Pippin: Merry. Merry, it's me. It's Pippin.
Merry: I knew you'd find me.
Pippin: Yes.
Merry: Are you going to leave me?
Pippin: No, Merry. I'm going to look after you.
I'm so grateful for the extended editions because we get so much more background on Faramir (I loved his flashbacks in The Two Towers), as well as this pretty Éowyn/Faramir scene! I love them so much. ♥

Gimli: Never thought I'd die fighting side by side with an Elf.
Legolas: What about side by side with a friend?
Gimli: Aye. I could do that.
Besides the actual destruction of the Ring and its aftermath, I would say that this is the single most epic scene in The Return of the King. I get chills every time Sam says this line (paired with the amazing music):
Sam: Come on, Mr. Frodo. I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you! Come on!
I still believe that Sean Astin was horribly robbed of an Academy Award nomination that year. :(
Aragorn: For Frodo.
Sam: Don't you let go. Don't let go.
Seeing their expressions change from elation to horror and shock when Mount Doom explodes kills me every time (especially Pippin, omg ;____;).
How beautiful is that last screencap? It says everything about their friendship/bond.
Frodo: I'm glad to be with you, Samwise Gamgee...here at the end of all things.
Again, beautiful. I love that no words are necessary.
Aragorn: My friends, you bow to no one.
It was so hard to picspam this part; just looking at these screencaps made me so sad. Those hobbits can cry.
