TM Prompt: Giving a gift...
What is the best present you have ever given someone else?
One Christmas, we found out that Max's boss at the UFO center had a daughter. Cute kid. Brody was raising her all by himself, which is tough. Only on top of that, the kid had cancer. She was a pretty sick little girl.
Max, being Max, wanted to do something for her. So we he went over there, intending to heal her. Thing is, she'd gotten worse, and was in the hospital. Max, still being Max, decided that wasn't going to stop him. So he and I went to Phoenix, and he healed her. But the catch is, there were so many other sick kids in that hospital that night.
I stood watch outside that ward while Max healed all of those kids. It took him ... forever, it seemed like. At first, I just wanted to get the hell out of there. The staff knew someone was there, so all I could really do is make sure they couldn't get in while Max healed. And then I wanted to help him, but I've never been as good at healing as Max, so I just watched as he went from one, to the next, to the next.
I've never really been all that good at gift giving. Maria could probably tell you volumes on that subject. So, I just stood there, waiting for Max to finish. He's always been good at gifts. But sometimes, being the sidekick is the best gift you can give someone, I guess.
