He came to me after Brooke dies. He was taking it hard, wanted to find who did it. I couldn't dissuade him. He said if I didn't help him, he'd find someone else. Meant it too. I could only imagine him being a dumbass and going to the exact people he shouldn't for help, them taking advantage of the kid and getting him hurt. So I agreed to help him. Figured maybe if I taught him the right way he'd know what he wanted and how he was going about it was not the best way, and give up.

I'm well aware what this means for Rhia. At the time I figure she be a hell of a lot more pissed if I didn't do something and the kid got himself killed. Except he got hurt anyway, could've died and no matter how this plays out theres no fixing the damage thats done.

He's a good kid. Just has a penchant for bad plans. If you could look out for him, take him under your wing, maybe you two can figure out how not to do that together. He's got a gift, it shouldn't be squandered.

You think if you'd told Rhia and Des and everyone what Matt planned to do that he could have got anywhere near someone who could teach him that stuff? This is a big extended family. Someone would have been watching him all the time.

See, you're so used to shouldering everything and not asking for help, that you get yourself in this situations that could have been avoided. Leonard took advantage of that side of your personality and counted on you to be the one to push us all away.

When you were young like that you had two powerful witched, the president of Hell nevermind all his lackeys, a telepathic ass kicking succubus, Dad and me, who's got both sides of magick on his side looking out for you and you still managed to get into my books.
