I'm quite happy with the election results. Despite voting Tory as a protest vote, I'm pleased they didn't get in nationally - their stance on the human rights act and the refugee convention is just too scary for me.
However, I was seriously hoping that Labour's majority would take a battering so that they could no longer force through bad, ill thought through bills in the House of Commons... and I'm happy to accept the reduction it looks like they'll suffer. Not quite as much as I'd hoped, but not bad.
In Finchley, our Labour MP got returned with a reduced majority. Again, despite voting against him, I'm quite happy to have him back as my MP. He's been a Labour rebel over Iraq/ID cards etc, and the Tory candidate wasn't very appetising.
So yeah. The result is just about what I was after. It's a shame I couldn't vote more positively, but I think a lot of people voted against Labour (as I did), and it swung votes to the Tories/Lib Dems.
