I think being a church cantor is a really nice thing, whether you believe what the church believes or not. You've studied music for a long time, so I know that you know enough about the history of music to know that music produced for worship and/or performed in churches and cathedrals has a long and prestigious history. Maybe all those composers and performers believed the words of the songs, and maybe they didn't, but the music was still beautiful. There's nothing wrong with using your voice to make beautiful music in any context you can.

As far as writing goes - I have signed up for a couple of ficathons this summer to try to jump-start my stalled creative muse.

You know, people still talk to me about when I first made the comment about Mother Nature's vagina. I'm surprised you still remember it. *hug*

Of course I remembered! I still remember that time we went to the fair together, too. That was so much fun!

Is the black kitty in your userpic yours?

Yeah. The fair was fun, even if that one ride was a KILLER on my nipple piercings.
The kitty isn't mine. My kitties wouldn't hold still long enough for that to happen, and Lilly is senile to the point that if she were floating, she'd be over one of the other streets.
As for getting back into writing, I would recommend the book "The Writer's Block" by Jacob Rekulak.
