reflections on the bachelor life

hello mom and Steven (the only two people who read this anymore).

Adam is back! He was gone to California most of the week last week, leaving me exclusively in charge of our little family. I was sad for him to go but in other ways I was looking forward to hanging out with work friends and other people Adam doesn't know all that well or particularly care about. It was fun for a little while, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't handle living like that for very long.

I stayed out super late every night. I refused to go grocery shopping and because of that ran out of toilet paper, paper towels, and basically all food in the house. Add to that the fact that I was too lazy to make myself anything nutritious to eat and had cookies for breakfast and cheeze-its for lunch, and you can imagine the predicament I found myself in about Thursday. Good thing I work at an organic pasta cafe and could get one meal a day from there or I probably would have had some kind of episode brought on by crazy blood sugar levels.

Because of my work schedule I couldn't pick him up from the airport when he arrived Saturday night, so one of our friends picked him up and brought him to the restaurant and my heart seriously jumped when I saw him walk in (looking all hot in some new hipster clothes he bought in San Francisco). The night up to that point had been CRAZY and BUSY and STRESSFUL but once he showed up it all melted away and I was just happy. I sure did miss him. We had a good night with our friend and yesterday I didn't want to let him out of my sight at all. Unfortunately it's back to work today, so I bid him adieu this morning and am a little bummed to realize I'll only get to see him for a couple hours tonight and an hour tomorrow night, what with our conflicting work schedules and all. Boo on that. At least I have my sleeping buddy back.

This evening I'm taking a bellydancing class. I'm also about to start re-learning French. Something about the St. Louis culture makes me want to better myself in creative ways. I also started drinking soy milk. Go figure.
