happy birthday, Adam

(this is for you, mom (o; )

So yesterday was my favorite guy's birthday and we did it up big. Friday we started by taking the dog and heading out to IL to take a trek down the Sam Vadalabene Bike Trail. It was actually a nice cool day and we had a great time. Olive managed to keep up with the bikes for about 3 miles one direction and then 3 miles back before collapsing on my lap in the car. She's a trooper.

first stopping point - Clifton Terrace Park

water break!

the trail followed the Mississippi and Illinois River

we did it!

We returned home to the city and promptly headed out to see SiCKO, my first Michael Moore flick ever and Adam's most anticipated film of the summer. (It's definitely worth a watch, although it will probably scare the crap out of you - as it did me - to hear all these horror stories from people who actually HAVE health insurance yet find themselves up a creek when they actually need to use it.)

Saturday Adam opened presents from family members in the morning then spent half the day (while I was at work) cleaning the apartment while he set up his 80G video iPod (a gift from his folks). My gift to him? A night at the Hyatt Regency Union Station and a bottle of his favorite scotch. We had dinner at Landry's followed by... a nice night at the Hyatt. (My short review of our stay: BEAUTIFUL place, BAD service not at all becoming of a supposed four-star hotel. I'd recommend you try a different place if you visit downtown St. Louis).

Now we are going from feeling like STL tourists and visitors to tour guides for our friends who should be here any minute. I'll let you know how that goes - later.
