so my weekend was fucking GORGEOUS. saturday was shrooms day. since it was my birthday recently, my friend decided to give me the shrooms as a birthday gift which i suggested a while ago, not expecting.. so that was very cool. while i was shrooming every single thing that happened delighted me in the most curious way. i drew with stenographs and watched the sunset. i wrapped myself in a red blanket which promptly became my world and i only invited ryan. i watched zoomquilt for a total time of realistically, like 45 minutes. i loved how after a while everyone (there were rougly ten of us) just decided to sit in the 4 by 6 foot kitchen. i realized the best secret of my life. ( it's strange to think that i have all i ever wanted ). austin air drumming to an honest mistake by the bravery just blew my mind like crazy. i had fun with some of the most awesome people i know. i feel almost like i've never been happier to know a group of friends like the people i was with on saturday.
today, i went to sunset junction. pretty much as soon as claire, reza and i got there the gossip started playing. they were pretty good, the singer's voice is amazing and they really have a unique sound. after that claire and i watched the eagles of death metal play. and to my absolute greatest fancy, i saw alex ebert. for those of you who are not cool, alex ebert is the frontman of one of the best bands to exist these days, ima robot. i stood in back of him the whole set basically, wanting to talk to him but being too afraid.soon enough he walked back out of the audience and i felt so angry at myself that i didn't talk to him. BUT. later, i think before new york dolls started playing, I SPOTTED HIM LEAVING! so claire and i ran up to him and....
me: excuse me, you're alex ebert, right?
alex ebert: yes
me: let's take a picture
alex: sure
me: i love your band
(picture is taken)
claire: when is your next cd coming out?
alex: february
me: ok bye!
there was also some talk of the backstreet boys too. afterwards, i was all wobbly and starstruck. i felt like such a fanatic. it was hilarious. also, the suicide girls did this burlesque-type show that was pretty cool. oh and jack black was there too! he came onstange to help sing with the eagles of death metal. it was his birthday today, and god, he really looks like dylan. after sunset junction, i went over to kristi's apartment with ryan and salsa. i met ryan's cousin jason and all watched the beginning of the garbage pail kids, but it was getting pretty late so we all went home. just for the record, these days i'm happier than i've ever remembered.
