Ooh, I have Potions tomorrow! I'm really not looking forward to that. Professor Snape is so scary and mean! I suppose I'll go for a walk. If anyone wants to join me, feel free to come find me!

Kevin had been out kicking around the football he'd gotten for Christmas. He had finally gotten a wee bit tired and was about to head back in when he saw a young girl pacing back and forth.

"You look like you could be a goal keeper," he commented.

"M...me? A goal keeper? What would make you think that?" Courtney asked, looking at the boy who walked up to her. Courtney certainly never even considered the thought of being a goal keeper. Afterall, she might break a nail or something.

"Well," Kevin pondered. "You have that protecting a certain area down to perfection. I don't think I could make it past you and that path you're wearing down even if I wanted."

Courtney couldn't help but giggle a little. "Well, you might be able to. I'm not much of a Quidditch player, to be honest."

"To be honest, I wasn't talking Quidditch."

Kevin tossed the football he was holding from one hand to the other.

"Oh, right, of course," Courtney said, turning a light shade of pink. "Well, I'm not very good at football either," she told him, glancing at the ball in his hands.

Courtney had recognized the ball when she first spotted the boy, but only because Charlotte always played during the summer. Charlotte never let Courtney play, mainly because she always thought Courtney was too young and not athletic enough.

"Have you ever tried it?" Kevin asked noting how the girl looked at the ball.

"Well, no, not exactly," she admitted, glancing at the ball again. "My sister doesn't think I'd be very good at it, though."

Kevin put the ball down on the ground and kicked it slightly so it rested against the girl's feet.

"Just because she thinks it doesn't mean it's true."

"Well, er...it probably is true," she said quickly, glancing down at the ball, not knowing quite what to do next.

Kevin stepped off to the side.

"Kick it."

The 12-year-old looked down at the ball again, deciding to at least try. She gave it a tiny tap and watched it roll about two inches from where it was.

"Well. I told you I was horrible at it," Courtney said, looking at the boy with a rather disappointed look on her face.

"You're not horrible, you didn't even give it a good solid kick."

He thought about something that would deserve a kick.

"Pretend it's a rat that you have to get as far away from you as possible."

Courtney nodded, thinking that it sounded easy enough. Then another thought came into her mind, figuring she'd better share the thought with the boy who told her to kick the ball.

"I wouldn't kick the rat! I'd call my boyfriend, Matty, and tell him to come get the rat away from me! That way, I so wouldn't go near the thing!" she explained

"But he's no where around and you're wand is on the other side of the room. What do you do?"

Kevin tried to coherse her into kicking the ball.

"I'd...run away. And then I would go get my older sister because she's not scared of anything!" Courtney replied confidently, flashing him a small grin at the same time.
