"Whyyyy? Whywhywhy?" she asked herself.
She fake yawned, "Oh yes, well, i'm so sorry that I won't be able to attend." she waved and tried to escape up to her room.

"Come onnn, Char! It'll be fun!" Courtney chimed in, skipping toward her older sister.

She really did like Christmas.. And snow and her family. But picture time? It was taking it a bit far.
"Can't we just.. make up a new tradition? Like, eating Christmas cookies for breakfast or something?" she asked.

Courtney was surprised that Charlotte wasn't into the Christmas spirit as much as she used to be. Before Connor died, Charlotte and Courtney always used to dress up and get all excited before their traditional Christmas pictures.
"Charlotte, dear, we always have taken Christmas pictures and we always will. Now please, make your little sister happy and enjoy the pictures. Sooner or later, you'll look back on this and smile," Mrs.Richmond said,trying to get Charlotte to participate.

Then she waited to be told what to do next. As she waited, she glanced over at Catherine, who was slowing backing up and trying to sneak out the front door.
"CATHERINE! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!" she yelled.
"Charlotte, there is no need for you to be so loud. Catherine, get back in here, you just heard me explain that all of the family will participate." their mother said as their father sat down the box.

Courtney, who was bouncing when Catherine had said what she said, stopped bouncing and looked at her. "We're not...not freaks," she said quietly, tears forming in her eyes.

Mr. Richmond sighed, "Catherine, for the last time, you may not refer to your sisters like that."

"You know, Catherine, Connor never had a problem with us. It didn't matter that he was a muggle and we weren't. He wasn't jealous of us." she said before she rolled her eyes. And, then, she realized that she had said his name.
Her brother's name was rarely spoken because it made things.. awkward and sad. Well, Charlotte had done it.

Mrs.Richmond wiped a silent tear from her eye and turned her attention to Catherine. "Catherine, you should know by now that just because Charlotte and Courtney and your father are a bit different, that doesn't mean that you can go around calling them 'freaks'. You know how I despise that word. Now, apologize and get ready to take the picture."

"Hmph," Charlotte said as she walked over to the box and pulled out her outfit and then went upstairs to her room. She had to share a room with Courtney because there were only three bedrooms not counting their parents room. Catherine had her own room and their brother used to have his own room. Their mother didn't have the heart to take everything out of it.
She looked down at their outfits and shook her head. She didn't bother closing the door because she knew that Courtney would be up momentarily banging on it for her to unlock it. She walked into the bathroom and changed quickly into an outfit that she hated.

She bounced up the stairs and ran into the bedroom, changing as quickly as possible. She sat down on the bed, waiting for Charlotte to come out of the bathroom so they could walk down together.

She sighed again and walked over to the door. She waited for Courtney to get up and then they walked down together. Charlotte plopped down on the couch because Catherine hadn't came down yet.

She looked back over at her youngest sister, "You do too," she said with a forced smile before looking down at her hands. She really wished that Catherine would hurry up and come back down.
Charlotte leaned over toward Courtney, "I bet she's going to make some kind of big production out of this," she whispered with a roll of her eyes. "I will never understand why she begs for attention the way she does."

Courtney rolled her eyes at the mere thought of thinking of Catherine and her begging for attention. "I hate it when she does that. It's so stupid," Courtney whispered back to Charlotte.
No sooner had the words escaped Courtney's mouth, Catherine came strutting down the stairs, her nose pointed toward the ceiling in a snobby way.
