To be ignorant is to ignore the truth, to not acknowledge it at all.
To be arrogant is to be rude and to put one's self on top of others.
To be apathetic is to seemingly not care, to put up a front.
Childhood ignorance is said to be bliss, but yet, when we see close-minded adults who cannot see past one point, we look down upon them--we acknowledge them as below ourselves.
Which leads into arrogance. An animal will act rudely and wildly but we will brush it off as a part of they do, the only thing they know how to do. Isn't it the same for humans? We act the way we're taught and if we're never taught, we cannot act the way others would like us to, can we? Eventually, negative criticism and dirty looks will lead one into a life of indifference and apathy.
The only object, creature, element on this Earth that can be apathetic is a rock. It cannot feel, it has never felt, it has no feelings. Humans, us, on the other hand know what feelings are, how they are, what to do about them. To withdraw into a shell and say we cannot hurt, we cannot feel is to tell the biggest untruth there is.
A narcissist is full of himself; an altruist will give himself up for others.
The narcissist thinks the altruist is not worth his precious time. The altruist will give himself up for the narcissist to live.
There are those who think of themselves as better than the rest of humanity, then there are those who will give themselves up for the sake of humanity. One characteristic by itself is enough to destroy a person--whether it be physically, mentally, or emotionally, it will kill us. To have a mix of those both, though, that is what will get us through life. Pride in accomplishments that overcame others will pull us through and at the same time helping another being will let you rest at night. To be right, there must be a perfect mix; however, there is no perfect--there is no right.
A massochist will hurt himself; a sadist will hurt you.
There's a balance. Sadists gain pleasure from putting others in pain; massochists gain pleasure from being in pain. To combine the two with each other, you will find a pleasure-filled couple who argues to feel good.
One characteristic of those in one person, though, is a world of doing what they like against a world of what others think is wrong. A sadist hurts other because he needs it to feel good, he is frowned upon. A massochist hurts himself to feel again, he is frowned upon as well.
To have neither, however, will get you nowhere. Knowing how to hurt others just enough will move a person up on the social ladder. Knowing how much pain one can take will help control self destruction. A perfect mix, a perfect blend will get us somewhere--anywhere.
But once again, there is no perfect.
Everyone has a blend of all the characteristics mentioned--some have more of one than another, others have barely any of one, it is still there. There's blocks and walls to put up to guard against your own personality flaws and others, but it the end, we will still feel the pain of what it is like to be too much of any one of these.
I have a blend of all these molded in me. However, I have taken time to find the switch to turn single ones on and off. I've found the remote to control how much of one comes out. I've learned to do what takes high-ranking officers in our society years to learn; I've done it more efficiently and with less stress factors that most had to put up with.
But yet at the same time, I still live. I still feel. I still have passion, love. I can still let words flow freely and music drift through. I've got wisdom in my hands and knowledge at my feet. I've got a little bit of everything that anyone will want in a personality and at the same time, I have no idea who I am.
