I am angry and disappointed. We are supposed to be a supportive community of writers trying to improve our skills through sharing and discussion. I would like to remind each of the 82 current members who were either instrumental in establishing the group or agreed to its purpose through their application.

From the __worthwriting Info page:

If you love to write and would like to receive feedback from people who love to write just as much as you then this is the place for you. Please don't hesitate to apply, we're always looking for new members.

Note that "feedback" is one of the first things mentioned on our Info Page. We are falling woefully short of our ideals.

New applicants are being voted on by only a few people and active member's submissions are being commented on even less. Part of this is a selfish response to an extreme lack of feedback to my own work. In my last four submissions to the group, I have received a grand total of one comment. I am sure others who have had less than spectacular responses to their submissions would agree.

The saddest part is that earlier I was inspired to write a second whimsical poem, but I ended up writing this because the first poem was ignored. I am sure you would all agree that this is hardly literary and not at all inspiring.

Communities exist to support each other and once that support stops, it just becomes a directory of people with a common interest who want nothing to do with each other. I don't expect everyone to comment on everything all the time. I understand that there are conflicting commitments that take priority. I can't respond to all of the submissions, but I do comment on a good many of them, not only for the benefit of the author but for myself as well. Even if each member made a comment about 10% of the submissions, every author would be guaranteed 8 responses. Without the feedback, What's point of posting at all?

Go ahead and take me to task for this.
