So, it's true. Bam might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, the smartest cookie in the...wait, is that even an expression? Well. Let's just say, he never quite gets things until they're blunt in front of his face.
Maybe that's why, even with all the subtle hints Ville had been throwing, Bam hadn't even registered the fact that maybe. Just maybe Ville wanted more than friendship from the dense boy.
He never caught the deep blushes, the lingering touches, the longing stares or even the abrupt break up with his girlfriend. He simply played it off as a act of fate and something 'normal'.
And even as Ville sat, clinging and crying to Bam, whispers of his name leaving the broken mans lips, he never once thought 'Maybe...'. He just took it as it came, the simple gestures nothing more than 'normal' to him by now.
But there was one thing about Ville that Bam never quite understood, he never quite understood exactly why Ville had even brought it up or even said the familiar little quote. The words feeling as sharp as daggers against Bam as they washed over him.
"It's better to wear your heart on your cheek than your sleeve. That way it won't fall off, it will just smudge."
It never made sense to him, never quite fully sinking in. But now, as he sits beside Ville his hands absently moving to their 'normal' spots on the older boys' body, he starts to realize. That maybe, just maybe...some things aren't meant to make sense or be 'normal'.
