AN- this chapter is a flashback

“Can anybody hear me?” Bam yelled through the darkness. “Hello! Please somebody help me!”

Only his echo responded and he pulled at the shackles on his feet angrily. “Shit,” he mumbled. He had no clue where he was, one minute he was walking out of Rex’s and the next thing he knew he was here chained to a wall in the dark.

“Alright, that’s the last time I drink ever,” Bam mumbled as he again pulled at his chains.

The young skater groaned as the lights suddenly flicked on, momentarily blinding him. He covered his eyes from the blinding light until he could finally see again.

“Hello, Brandon,” a voice said above him.

“What the…” Bam mumbled as he finally opened his eyes. He gasped as he saw a long steel tube; at the end of the tube was a silver key.

“Or as your fans know you, Bam,” the voice said. “I want to play a game; everyday you put your life on the line as a joke for your paycheck. You live a comfortable life filled with partying and booze, but on the inside you are dead. So I’m giving you a chance, in front of you is a long tube, at the end of that tube is a key that goes to your shackles. All you have to do to survive is grab the key, but you better hurry you only have 30 seconds to grab it before the razorblades surrounding the key push inward and block your only way of escape.”

Bam gasped as he heard the machine begin to buzz.

“If you wish to die, then do nothing and the glass hanging above you will fall when the 30 seconds is up. Let the game begin.”

“Oh God,” Bam whispered as the razorblades began to slowly push inward causing the hole to close up. Bringing his hand up, and swallowing his fear he quickly reached into the hole, grimacing as the blade cut into his flesh. He grinned as his bloody hand grasped the key. He began to pull his hand back and screamed as the razorblades cut even deeper. He glanced over at the clock hanging on the wall to see that he only had 10 seconds left.

Kneeling down he quickly pushed the key into the first lock and managed, with a shaky hand to pull the first shackle off. He vaguely felt the tears as they ran down his cheeks to the bloody tiled floor.

“Shit,” Bam yelled as he tried his hardest to get his shaking hand to put the key into the last lock. “Come on dammit, please,” he whispered as he finally got the key in the lock and turned until the shackle came free. Bam quickly scrambled away as the glass above him fell and shattered on the floor.

Bam was breathless and sobbing on the cold floor as he tried desperately to stop his arm from bleeding. He gasped as he heard the door in front of him be pushed open slowly and the sound of a little kids tricycle come toward him slowly. Bam sat up slowly and he felt his heart skip a beat as he saw a doll with red eyes and black synthetic hair ride slowly over to him.

“Congratulations, you’re still alive, most people are so ungrateful to be alive, but not you, not anymore.” The doll said. “Follow me and I’ll show you the way out,” the doll said as he turned around and began to ride away slowly. Bam stood shakily and stumbled after the doll.

Bam walked down a long hallway, the lights above him flickered every now and again but he followed along without question, hoping he would get to see his family and friends again. He would never take them for granted like he had in the past if he could only get out of this place alive.

The doll stopped and Bam almost stumbled into it. “There’s your way out, you’ve earned it by understanding that life is a privilege and not a right, and you must never forget that.”

Bam nodded and made his way past the doll and towards the exit. He opened the heavy metal door and stepped outside into the muggy August night. Bam stopped and looked back into where the doll was still sitting, staring at him as if waiting for something before he could truly go.

The skater looked at his still bleeding wrist and then back at the doll. “Most people are so ungrateful to be alive, but not you, not anymore.”

The dolls words rang in his mind and he stepped back inside, the doll cocked its head to the side in confusion.

“Thank you,” Bam whispered, and with that he stumbled away.
