“Shit it’s hot,” Bam mumbled as he peeled his sweaty T-shirt off of his body.

“No shit Sherlock,” Dunn said making Bam throw the sweaty shirt at him. The older man dodged it easily and Bam settled for glaring at his friend instead.

“Why don’t we head out to the pool,” Ville offered.

“Yea, it’ll be a lot cooler than staying in here and frying,” Raab said.

They all nodded in agreement and hurried off to put on their swimming trunks. Bam quickly put sun tan lotion on his skin, not wanting to have sun burn and have his skin peeling like a snake.

“Hey Bammie?” Ville said as he poked his head into his best friends room. “Hey Willa, whatcha need?” Bam asked with a smile.

Ville entered the room and sighed “Jonna called last night and, I’m thinking about getting back together with her.”

Bam’s heart felt like it would shatter as the words came out of the man’s mouth. “Why?” Bam asked.

Ville stood their carefully going over his answer in his head “Because she needs me Bam.”

Bam nodded “Question is do you love her,” he mumbled under his breath.

“What?” Ville asked.

“Nothing Willa,” Bam said. “I’m happy for you Ville, hopefully things will work out this time,” Bam lied through his teeth as his stomach twisted into knots and his heart broke.

Who was he kidding? He didn’t have a chance with Ville even when he wasn’t with Jonna.

“Yes…hopefully,” Ville said a bit awkwardly.

There was silence between them until Raab yelled for them to hurry the hell up already.

Ville smiled as Raab, Ryan, and Novak all jumped into the cool chlorine water. Bam stood at the edge of the pool, a lost look on his face.

“You alright Bammie?” Ville asked.

Bam nodded looking at Ville with sad blue eyes before he dove into the pool. All four of them watched as Bam sunk down to the bottom of the pool, he made no attempt to come back up for air. The skater grinned as he sat at the bottom of the pool and stared up at the distorted faces of his friends and the man he loved, the man that would never love him back.

He lay back against the smooth pool bottom and closed his eyes as he felt his lungs begin to burn and ache for fresh air. Death by drowning, it was perfect.

His hair floated around his head as if blown by an eerie breeze and his head began to feel light as the burning in his lungs grew into an uncontrollable inferno.

Somewhere far off he heard a loud splashing noise and he wondered if it was him, his body’s last effort to keep him alive when he had no will left to live. There was no Ville waiting for him like there was in all of his dreams, and their never would be.

Wet skin slid across wet skin as someone began to pull him to the surface. He wanted to stop them, fight them somehow to let him die in this watery paradise that he had created for himself.

Then all at once his lungs exploded, the burned flesh on the inside of his lungs felt as if it was being torn into by razorblades as he breathed in air for the first time in what Bam was sure had been an eternity.

“Come on Bam please breath,” he heard an angels voice say. The angel sounded sad, its voice was filled with tears and sorrow. Bam would do anything to make this angel happy, so he very painfully began to breath.

“That’s it love, breath,” the angel said its voice sounded relieved now but still sorrowful.

Love? What was love, he didn’t know love, it was foreign and exotic to him but he was sure love was the reason he was here. Love was the reason his lungs were being cut open from the inside out. Love was the reason his brain was pulsing and aching. Love was the reason for the pain inside his non existent heart.

“What the hell was he thinking?” Another voice, but it wasn’t the voice of an angel. It had a roughness to it that made it utterly human.

“We have to get him inside,” the angel said. Bam felt his heavy and imperfect limbs being lifted up into the air and he knew that the angel had gathered him up into its arms and was carrying him to safety. He felt small drops of acid begin to make their way down his face, mixing with the cool pool water.

“Shh Bam it’s alright, don’t cry,” the angel cooed.

He tried to control his tears, but as the angel set him down on a soft lazy cloud, he couldn’t help but sob at how beautiful heaven was.

“Shh, please don’t cry everything’s alright now you’re safe.”

He thought about opening his eyes to see the face of the angel that he had instantly fallen in love with as soon as he heard its voice.

Delicate fingers ran through his wet hair and he sighed in happiness through his tears. “Oh Bam why would you do this?” the angel asked.

“V-vi-lle,” his voice was raw and weak, like sandpaper rubbing against the inside of his throat.

“I’m here Bammie,” the angel whispered, its hand moved from his hair to interlock their fingers.

The young man opened his sapphire eyes and blinked away the remnants of his tears. “Oh God Bam are you alright?”

The angel was gone, it its place sat Ville, tears blurred his vision. “W-why?” Bam asked.

“Why what Bammie?” the Finn asked.

“You sa-ved me,” Bam whispered.

“Yes, of course. You had me scared to death when you didn’t come up so I dove in for you.”

Bam wondered if Ville would have done the same for Jonna? Would the Finn rather save her than him?

“Why didn’t you come up Bammie?” the Finn asked.

Bam was silent for a moment, closing his eyes and imagining himself suspended in the water, his body limp and arched as if some invisible force was cradling him in its arms.

“No reason to,” he answered softly.

Ville’s eyes widened in utter shock and terror, “You were trying to kill yourself.”

Bam looked away from him not wanting to see the hurt and sympathy on the older mans beautiful face.

“Please tell me why?”

“Because what’s to live for if your heart and soul love another?” Bam answered simply.

They sat in silence and Bam silently wished for the warm tranquility of the pool water once more. “It’s me isn’t it?” Ville asked.

“It’s always been you,” Bam said.

“Bammie I’m so sorry,” Ville whispered, tears rolling down his cheeks.

“Go and be happy with Jonna,” he said.

“No Bam, I don’t want to be happy with Jonna, I want to be happy with you,” Ville said as he looked deep into Bam’s eyes, the eyes the color of the crystal clear ocean you only see in your dreams.

Ville leant down slowly to the weak young man on the bed and captured his lips in a soft kiss. Bam couldn’t help but sigh at the feel of Ville’s velvety lips against his. Ville moved away from Bam’s mouth to place butterfly kisses on his cheek and jaw.

“I died didn’t I,” Bam whispered.

“No my love you’re very much alive,” Ville said, his warm breath tickling the sensitive, wet skin.

“I love you,” the younger man gasped as Ville began to nip and lick at his neck.

“I love you too darling, more than I could ever hope to express in words,” the Finn said as he moved back up to devour Bam’s lips once more.

“Promise me you’ll never leave me Bammie.”

“I promise,” Bam moaned as his love ran his hand slowly up his chest to gently tug at his nipples until they were both hard and a dark husky color.

“My beautiful angel, why was I so blind before?” Ville asked.

“We’re blind to the things that are right in front of us,” Bam replied as Ville pulled off his swimming trunks as well as Bam’s and tossed them aside.

“Until it’s gone,” Ville finished as he drew Bam into his arms and pulled the covers over their naked bodies.

“Sleep well Bam,” the Finn said, a hint of fear evident in his voice.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be here when you wake up,” Bam said as he curled into Ville’s warm body.

“Always?”

“Always.”
