Hey there!

No this isn't another chapter of "It's A Hard Knock Life." This is a standalone that I wrote at my aunt's house. My grandpa just got back from Haiti and it was a little family gathering, best place for Vam, eh?

"words" are Angel Speak, 'words' are human speak.

Nightly I leave my nest of clouds, I leave the comfort, safety, and paradise of Heaven to check upon the people under my guardianship. I am a guardian angel.

I come to Earth, I stop in India to check on a little girl whose lost her arm to a train. She walks down the dusty road, holding the stump where her arm should be. She’s trying her very hardest to ignore what the mocking children say.

She’s trying to remember the words of God that her mother has told her. I touch her shoulder with my ethereal hand and whisper in her ear, that one day, all will be well for her. She smiles and skips off, she’s remembered the words her mother has told her, her soul has heard my words.

Next, I stop in England, my charge is an elderly man named Oscar. Six years ago I was there when Oscar’s wife Mary passed away. I held his hand when no one else would.

He sits beside Mary’s grave every Wednesday, talking to her. I sit with them. She smiles as she listens to him tell her stories about their life, she remembers, she remembers everything. She’s never missed a visit, and neither have I. She tells me that she can see him fading, I agree. So does the cemetery keeper, when he finds Oscar slumped over Mary’s grave the next morning.

I’m off to America for the next one. He’s quite famous around the world, you may know him, Bam Margera is his name. I’ve been there trying to keep him unharmed every time he and his friends decide to do something stupid. It’s difficult sometimes, but I like my job. He may be one of my favorite charges. He puts on this facade of happiness and carelessness, but he’s a mess on the inside.

I suppose that would have something to do with his obsession with this band from Finland. HIM, I believe it is. Well, I could tell from the beginning that there was something different about his relationship with the lead singer, Ville Valo. I watched his soul become tortured and ragged as he seemed to fight himself, fight against his attraction. I didn’t know it would be so hard for him.

I come to him now, his heart is breaking. Ville told him that he has been planning to marry. I sit next to him, he’s lying across his bed, burrowed under his pillow, sobbing into the sheets. I touch his shoulder and whisper in my angelic language. I tell him that everything will be fine, that he’ll get through it because he’s always been strong. Of course he won’t understand or hear me, however, his soul will hear me. I know it will. It’s now that I notice that I’m not alone. There is another.

“Cupid?” I look up and the cherub smiled at me. There was a knock on the door. I flutter to the corner with Cupid and watch the scene before me.

‘Go away.’ Bam shouted.

‘Bam? Open the door.’ Ville? What was going on here? I looked back to Cupid, who had a goofy smile on his face, the goofy smile for a job well done. The door had opened revealing the Finnish man, he stepped in and shut the door quietly.

‘Bam? Are you alright?’

‘No.’ Bam’s muffled voice came out from under his pillows. Ville climbed on the bed next to Bam and pulled the pillow off his head.

‘Are you crying?’ Ville cuddled down next to my charge and I snuck closer, followed by Cupid. ‘Bammie? Please tell me what’s wrong.’ Bam didn’t say anything, he just looked up and wiped his eyes. Ville reached out and touched his shoulder. I saw it, electricity. They felt it, I know they did.

‘I don’t want to talk about it.’ Bam said and turned away.

‘I do.’ Ville replied and jerked Bam back to face him, it was in this moment that I saw the flutter of pink wings. Cupid had rushed up to push Bam to Ville, their lips touching. The jolt went around the room. Cupid had finished his job.

The two young men kissed one another, pouring their emotions into the kiss that could potentially change their life. Ville pulled away from Bam’s mouth, but pulled his body into an embrace.

‘Bam? Do you love me?’

‘Yes.’ And now I knew it was my time to leave.

I fluttered out of the house and started on to my next charge, and Cupid was following me.

“Beautiful wasn’t it!” Cupid giggled and I looked over.

“Why did you wait so long? It was tearing him apart.” Cupid frowned and then grinned.

“I actually didn’t have anything to do with that one, it started on it’s own.”

“Are you telling me that-?”

“Yeppers Annabelle! True Love, the real kind!”

“So that means that Ville’s my charge now too.” I smiled at Cupid and looked back at the Castle we were flying away from. I could see the glow of true love, it was by far, one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
