It's a poem. I got a line stuck in my head, but it was more poetic that . . . prose-etic? Well, it's a little Vam poem I put together.
I'd love you but I don't have the strength.
You broke me one too many times
With the beauty in your lies.
I'd love you but I don't have the strength.
You broke me one too many times
With the beauty in your lies.
I'd love you but I don't have the strength
To try and make you fall in love with me
One last time.
I'd love you but I don't have the strength
To break the heart of the helpless girl
Standing across from you today.
I'd love you but I don't have the strength
To even wipe away the tearstains
From the love you promised yesterday.
I'd love you but there's been one too many times
With one too many lies
And one too many people
Broken once upon a time.
I'd love you but I don't have the strength
To kiss the lips of a liar and a sinner
Who's marrying his unknowing lover today.
I'd love you but I have to look away
When you press your lips to hers
And I remember all our days.
The days before loving you wasn't a chore.
The days before loving you wasn't a sin.
The days before loving you didn't break my heart.
I'd love you but you've broken my heart one too many times.
But when I fall back in love with you
And you make me cry more tears
My heart can't possibly break anymore
Because it's faded to dust.
I'd love you but I don't have the strength
Anymore than I have the strength to fight it.
So just kiss your pretty bride
And ignore these tears I cry
And come find me some other night
And weave to me another lie
And we all know I'll play the fool
And share a deceptive bed with you
And promise once again
To never fall back in love with you . . .
. . . but I don't have the strength.
