I was slightly worried about Faith contacting this Mclay girl. It wasn't that I didn't trust her to be subtle about it and... I'm a liar. That's exactly it. I didn't trust her in that aspect. Because if there was something Faith didn't have it was subtlety. And finesse. And how to handle the more shy people of humanity. Quite frankly, I think at ( Read more... )

I pick up the magick book that Mr. Wesley handed me and started to slowly sift through the pages. I could feel myself becoming a bit more at ease, this was my element and this was something I could possibly handle.

"W-what if..." Biting my lip I picked up a pen and paper that was on the table and started to map out points that I knew on campus. They all had different elements, it could work. "W-we could um do elemental magick." I pointed out the four corners of the campus, the fraternity bon fire, the greenhouse, the gym where the swim team met and the southern most point of the campus where most of the breezes came from. "T-there's a spell, if we put what's needed at each of the corners, it will make a barrier, no magick could be done while it's in place. If F-faith could get the Immortal on campus w-we can put the final element into place."

I picked up the book and started to read some of the passages, looking for the right spell. I glanced over when Faith came and sat next to me, looking over my shoulder to look at the text. "It's S-Samaritan..." I didn't think Faith would know, but I didn't want to make an assumption.

Looking up I looked at Mr. Wesley nervously. "W-what do you um t-think? It might have a chance to work Mr. Wesley."

Giving Faith an annoyed looked, more out of habit then anything else really, I sat back down an picked up my tea again. Faith seemed more distracted then usual and I wondered if perhaps she was worried about something else then just the Immortal and this upcoming battle. Perhaps some school related thing. I should ask later after we've figured this out.

Tara started to read through the book and Faith, obviously trying to seem interested started to glance over her shoulder. She knows how irritating that is. It annoys the hell out of me and I sincerely doubt Tara isn't bothered by it. Though, I have to admit she's covering it up pretty good.

"Wesley, please," I smiled at her. Mister Wesley? She made me feel like some 3rd grade teacher. A shudder ran through me at that though. Good god, no. "I think it's an excellent idea. Especially since we'll be able to create a near impenetrable barrier and one what wouldn't effect Faith. All we need to do is set things up and lure him to that point." Which, granted, sounded easier then it probably was.

"What do you think, Faith?" Always include your Slayer, that's been one of my most important focuses. Even though most of this probably flew right over her head, I do want her to feel involved. She is after all the one who's going to end up doing most of the work. Well, battle wise. Tara will be doing most of the magic work. I guess I'll just do my job. Watch.

Get him on campus? Oh yeah, what a great idea? That can't possibly go wrong what with all those helpless students milling around. Damn. Sometimes I just wanted to bitchslap these academic types. For all of their booksmarts, they sometimes just really didn't get it.

Then again? I didn't exactly have a better idea. Needed to take him out hard and fast. He was a hard enough guy to fight without the magick, the magick just made him impossible to fight. If I could get him on campus and get rid of his magick crap? Might be worth the risk. Or I might end up gettin' my ass handed to me. You never knew.

With a sigh, I pressed my lips into a thin line and looked between the two of them. "If you think it's gonna work, then pony up the magick crap and let's do this."

What else could I say? I ran out of options a long time ago and this was something I had to do. The two of them could carry the magick thing, and I would deliver the ass beatin'. Just the way it worked.

Magick crap? I couldn't help but cringe at that and I looked away. I guess I couldn't blame her if she didn't know or understand about magick. I was brought up with it, it's as comon as anything from the every day. Not everyone was brought up like I was. A part of me contimplated maybe teaching Faith a bit about magick but then the image of her blowing up half the campus on accident quickly squished that idea.

I could see a flicker of worry cross her eyes and I think I knew what she was afraid of, the students on campus. I hadn't thought of that. Hmm. Wait, what if.

Reaching down I picked up my bag and started rifeling through it till I found my planner. Flipping the pages I found what I was looking for. "W-we have um break coming up." I looked at Faith and smiled slightly. "We can do it then, no students on campus..."

I looked up at the two of them and tucked my hair behind my ear and away from my face. "The question is, can we w-wait that long? It's um only." I looked back down and counted the days. "T-three day's away."

"Well, of course we'll do it during the break." I frowned and blinked at both of them. "I'm sure we can keep him...err...from doing harm until then. He's usually very quite after he had a run in with you, isn't he Faith?"

Of course we'll have to wait until the campus is most empty. We really can't afford to endanger anyone. Of course Tara is taking a risk, and I'm not at all certain about that. I had hoped it would be a more simple spell. But if Faith takes care of this Immortal, then I can make certain Tara is well protected. I do have *some* skills of my own. Magical or otherwise.

"So, well." I pulled a book toward me, pulling my glasses off and pinching the bridge of my nose. "We've three days to prepare and make certain we haven't made any mistakes." I glanced at Tara for this, because obviously Faith wasn't going to have to prepare any spells or magic. "And I'm certain, Faith, wouldn't mind helping you out with any kind of research when I'm not around." Flashing my slayer an innocent smile, I slid my glasses back on my nose.

Oh yeah. Break. How had I forgotten about that? I'd been lookin' forward to it all week. Next week? No school. That left this slayer, well...just happy. Course I had about three papers to write over break. Not much of a break if you asked me, not that anyone ever did. Check. Write papers, kill the Immortal and what? Now Wes wanted me to help with researching? Seriously, could my luck get any suckier?

"You know me." I said sarcastically with a malicious grin. "Anything to help the team." See how they'd feel if I asked them to help me with the staking and the beheading and...well you get the picture. Not like Wesley ever broke into the sewers with me, and got covered with slime and filth to kill a couple monsters. But when he needed help with researching? Well...actually, I usually just whined until he stopped makin' me research. Tara'd get that, she seemed cooler than Wesley. Not that that was a hard thing to accomplish really.

"Sweet deal." I announced, standing up as if to say, this impromptu meeting? So over. If it got any more boring I might slip into a coma. What good would a slayer in a coma do anyone? For real. Still tweeked me out too, that Tara had met the infamous Buffy. Sometime when Wes wasn't around I'd have to ask her about Buffy. See if she was really all they made her out to be. Somehow, I seriously doubted it. "Sounds like we got a game plan all in place."

I could walk Tara home, and ask her about Buffy then. Didn't wanna make it seem to obvious though. That'd be lame, and I wasn't lame. Hell no.

Looking at Faith I could tell she was far from happy about any of this, maybe she would be once things were put into place and it looked like we were getting somewhere.

But Faith didn't seem to be one for having much - if any - patients. It seemed like I'd have to have a lot while around her. It should be very interesting us working together. We're like night and day.

Standing I started to gather my things. "I'll make a list of um things we need and we can work on the s-set up then." I smiled slightly, glancing back and forth between them.

I watched as Faith got up and I glanced past her at the clock. I had an early class tomorrow and I needed to get some sleep. "Um I s-should get going myself..." I tucked my hair behind my ear and blushed. "I have an early c-class tomorrow, and a final in the morning." Granted it was my painting class but I still didn't want to get a bad mark for that, that would be very embarrassing. "I-I can come buy tomorrow or the f-following day if you still need me." I glanced over at Faith who seemed to be inching towards the door. I wondered if maybe she'd walk back with me, she was in almost the same dorm as me. We were headed the same way anyhow.

This is going splendid. We had a plan, we had the means to do it and that Immortal was going to be history. Kick arse as they say so eloquently here. Which, I will never be caught dead saying. It's bad enough that I thought it. Which just shows the amount of influence Faith has on me. Good lord, appalling, yet amusing.

"Oh thank you, Tara. That would be appreciated. I'm sure you'll know where to get some items as well. Let me know if you need any help. I've an account at most magic stores and the likes, just put it on there." The Council will pay for those anyway. Besides, it was for a good cause. And she'd know what to get better then I in this case, though I am going over the spell myself to make certain nothing will go wrong of course.

"Alright, you girls be careful when you walk back. I'm sure Faith will have on problem walking you home, Tara." I glanced at Faith and noticed an odd light of curiosity in her eyes. I'd seen it before, many times in fact. Usually when she wanted to know something but didn't really know how. She'd get it eventually though.

"Well, you know where to find me," I told Tara. "You're always welcome here." Getting up, I walked them to the door to let them out. I needed to lock up behind them anyway. It was getting late again. "It was nice meeting you Tara," I nodded at her with a smile.
"Faith, try not to scare her off to much alright? I'll see you both tomorrow or the day after then." Opening the door, I leaned against it and waited for them to step out.

"Good luck with your tests you two."
