There's a thunder in our hearts, baby

Alright, so obviously I fucked something up earlier. It wasn't like I had a lot of experience in makin' nice with people. Slayer. She alone. Blah blah blah, Wes made me memorize that speech with how often he'd said to me over the years. But honestly, the fact that I had no friends didn't really have much to do with me bein' the slayer. More to do ( Read more... )

Well as long as the food doesn't do anything weird or the people here try to eat us alive I guess it's got one up on Sunnydale then. "Sounds good to me." I bit my lip and sat across from her, tucking my leg under me as I sat.

I smiled back at Faith when she said she was bringing me pizza, I wondered for a moment why she was then I remembered that we'd had a fight this afternoon. It was over and done and mostly forgotten, you can't change the past so everything was what it was. We needed to work together to get rid of the Immortal and us fighting wasn't going to do either of us any good.

"Well then we'll just have to have extra pancakes in mourning of the pizza." I laughed at my own lameness and shook my head, looking down at the menu. I wasn't all that hungry, I was more nervous then anything. But I was and would be ok, I was with a slayer. Not with but Faith was around and I'd be alright, unless the Immortal came and then we'd both be ( ... )

Tara and I ordered pancakes and I ordered a coffee before the waitress left us alone. Pancakes in mourning of pizza? Was this chick for real or what? Probably. I learned to expect almost anything from the girls I went to school with. Course, most of 'em were stuck up bitches from rich little families. Tara didn't really seem that way at all. BU was a hard school to get into and I had the good sense to know that the only reason I happened to be going there now was because the Council had a foot in the door pretty much everywhere. I hadn't flunked out of high school, but I'd come close ( ... )

I put the menu to the side and tucked my hair behind my ear, looking over at Faith when she asked me about school. I didn't mind telling her I just minded talking about myself, I hated it and it always made me feel uncomfortable.

Too late I guess.

"I'm um studying art. I don't h-have a set major yet but it's either going to be art or teaching." I smiled slightly and blushed, looking down at the paper placemat that was on the table. "I kind of like working with kids." I shurgged a bit and tried to brush it off but art and kids were my biggest passions.

I looked up at her and played with a lock of my hair, a nervous habit of mine since I was little. "W-well why don't you pick um something that you're good at. I mean, I know, I know that the slaying is your gig but maybe learning something that you c-could enjoy would be nice." I gave her a small smile and shrugged a bit. "Hmmm maybe umm something to do with umm kickboxing or uh something..." I blushed deeply and looked down at the table, feeling like a total dork. "S-sorry..."

"That's cool." I said breezily when she mentioned that she liked art and kids. I mean, I guess that was cool or whatever if that was what she was into. Totally not my thing but everybody's gotta have something, right? Me. I liked killin' things, not exactly a practical course of study but it seemed to work for me. Wasn't even sure what I was doin' in college anyway. Well, I already knew the answer to that. Because the choices had been clear to me. Keep livin' with Watcher Boy or move into some dorms. Wes was cool but I couldn't imagine livin' with him forever. We just drove eachother crazy most of the time. And slaying? Didn't exactly pay the bills. Seemed hardly fair that Wes got paid to be my watcher but what'd I get? Diddly. That was what ( ... )

"W-well you can always f-find something..." I smiled slightly. "You can be a bodyguard...They get p-paid good money..." I shrugged and started fiddling with the napkin, feeling a bit uncomfortable ( ... )

A bodyguard? Now that was an idea I could get behind. Could you see it? Me. Faith. Bodyguard to the stars or some whack shit like that. Yeah right. That wasn't the life I was supposed to lead. I had a job, kill the demons before they killed me. But I was smart enough to know that one of these days? One of these days I wasn't gonna be fast enough or strong enough or smart enough or something. But that day wasn't today, and I'd be damned if it was gonna be tomorrow either ( ... )

I took another sip of my juice and smiled slightly. "I see..." And I'm sure the last place she wanted to be was in school, couldn't say I blamed her to much. But I liked it myself, didn't like the eight AM classes but those were a passing phase ( ... )

Her magick was shut off? I didn't know that was how it worked. I guessed my theory was right, even a badass witch like her's gotta run outta juice sometime. Guess we hit the sometime. But it was all five by five, cause she was safe with me. Lucky for me? I never ran outta slayer powers. Sure, everyonce in awhile I got beat ass tired but that wasn't really the same thing. I could still probably throw a vampire three city blocks even at my weakest ( ... )

I think Faith was lost in the beautiful pile of pancakes in front of her because she didn't seem to hear anything I said. I ignored it and went on as if I didn't tell her before that it was because of the spell, she'd most likely forget anyway ( ... )
