Things happen. Things beyond your control that you don't want to happen. They hurt and they usually hit when you least expect them. But you have two options: You can either let it control your life and bring you down, which'll destroy you or you can use it to make yourself stronger.
At the end of the day, all we really have in life is our dignity. You learn that it's the only thing that can't be taken away from you. If you keep your dignity and keep your chin up, you'll come out fine in the end.
You have to realize something. There isn't a single person in the world who won't bring you down if it benefits them. I don't mean that in a negative way. But that's human nature. We're creatures built on our own survival. We're greedy by nature. If you can't make yourself happy, nobody else will. All the money, drugs, religion, girls, cars or whatever else in the world can't do jackshit for you if you don't make yourself happy.
The best thing you can do is take a long, hard look in the mirror and think about what you want in life. Life itself is purposeless. We have no one, binding reason for existance that holds true for every human. Reason comes when you make a reason for yourself. Choose what you think is worth living for and fighting for. Choose what you think is worth passing on to the next generation. And go for it. It comes from inside, not any external source.
