Sorry, I don't have my whole adventure all typed up to share with everyone yet.. Buuut.. Here are a couple photos that I hope you enjoy. :)
That was the view from our 11th floor terrace that we woke up to every morning.
My family also went on a tour to Chichen Itza (pronounced chee-chen eet-suh), which are ancient Mayan ruins. My brother and I climbed to the top of this temple, which was used for worship. It was 92 steps (including the step to get to the top) and they were narrow and steep. If you look at the left of the picture, you can see how people have to hunch over nearly onto the steps to climb up. In order to get down without falling (such as the folk that have done before - the tour guide said that every so often people fall off and need medical assistance, in which the nearest hospital is one and a half hours away), I had to sit on my butt and crawl my way down. My brother was like, "Now you're really living up to your nickname of Scooter!"
At Xcaret (pronounced ish-car-et), there was a two hour show that depicted the lives of the Mayans and the transition to Mexico today. For example, they dressed as authentically as possible and even showed us old Mayan games.. One was like field hockey, except the ball was on fire.. And they were all barefoot. And to show the transition to Mexico today, they demonstrated influential dance types of other countries and also different styles.
One of the little turtles at Xcaret.. There were TONS.. They had babies, little ones, medium ones, and those great big ones that you could ride like a pony. (Or something like that.)
A photo of one of the parrot's my family got its picture with. (That photo will come later.)
Another parrot photo.
My darling 14-year-old brother, who will be 15 Jan. 13, actually. That is his "sexy-shy" pose, as he calls it.
That would be me and my latino pirate friend. On the four-hour dinner/cruise/pirate show, he flirted like crazy with me, and it was just fun. He would always make sure I was included with EVERYTHING, especially all the dancing that went on.. In which he would walk by me and bump my hip, nearly knocking me off my feet. After some dancing, I had gone to get water, and when he saw me with it, he came up to me and grabbed my hand, "If you need something, you let ME know, okay?" It was cute. Later on, he walked up behind me and stood behind me and gave me his mardi gras beads that he had been wearing. When I got that photo with him, he had given me a kiss on the cheek, which explains why we were so close. When the cruise was over, and I was getting off, he had said, "Adios senorita," pulled me close and kissed my cheek.
Needless to say, good times.. <3
