Name: Jeremie
Age: 21
I. Describe yourself: I'm a relatively outgoing guy with very little patience for apathy or ignorance. I'm a writer, a painter, a voracious reader and a singer. I'm a graduate student who isn't quite sure why he's a graduate student. I'm indecisive at times, but quite determined once I've made up my mind. I'm a lover, but piss me off and I'm a fighter. When I have a cause, its mine... protests, letter campaigns, etc.
II. What are some of your pet peeves? Apathy. When people don't care about what's going on around them, or believe it doesn't matter, it bothers me. Like when people shrug and say 'what can I do, I'm just one person, I can't help.' Or classmates who think classes don't matter or that they aren't learning anything important. Willful ignorance. The complete refusal to know what affects someone's own life just doesn't make sense to me. Oh, and people who bite their toenails. I mean, really.
III. What is your take on religion? I study religion. I find it to be a valid expression of spirituality, but also recognize that it isn't for everyone. I believe that all forms of organized religion have their flaws because no human-run organization can be perfect. That's not to say I believe humanity is flawed. I do consider myself a spiritual person and I believe that I am exactly as God intended. I do not believe that God makes mistakes. Humans, however, are an entirely different story.
IV. If you were a character in the Harry Potter series, which of the following would you be? (Pure-Blood, Half-Blood, Muggle Born, Squib, or Muggle) I'd be muggle-born. My parents and I have very little in common and they've got this kid that they just don't know what to do with. They know there's something that makes me quite different from them, but they can't quite place it.
V. Which house do you not fit in at all? I think I exhibit traits characteristic of all the houses at one point or another, but if I had to pick one, I'd say Slytherin. My "whatever it takes to get it done" attitude doesn't come out as often, because I'm not a ends justify the means kinda of guy, at least in my opinion.
VI. How do you feel about inter-house relations? If you're talking just the how the houses interact, I really believe that friendly interactions between houses is a positive thing. People are sorted into different houses for various reasons and I think its beneficial to mix with people who are different from you. That being said, I think a little healthy compeitition is fantastic.
VII. If you recieved a Howler from your parents, what would it be for? Mouthing off. I can be a snarky bastard sometimes. I talk back. It's a bit of a problem.
VIII. What would you die for? Love. And by that, I mean the people I love (family, friends, boyfriend, etc), as well as love itself. I know that's abstract, but I can't really make it more concrete.
IX. If you found your best friend's diary would you read it? Your worst enemy's? Never. Not either of them. That diary contains someone's innermost thoughts, their soul. Magic or not, you get inside a person by reading a diary, and I could never violate someone like that.
X. What is your life's dream? My life's dream keeps changing. As I grow as a person, my goals shift. Currently, my biggest hope is to combine my academic studies with my activist tendencies and articulate a healthy, life giving christian spirituality for glbt youth that's accepted by the mainstream churches, that doesn't require a denial of one's identity. If that makes any sense.
XI. What makes you unique? Explain. My past. I grew up in a town where apple tress outnumber people. I thought about joining the Army and was going to apply to West Point. But, I changed my mind. I was going into ministry. I went to college in a town not much bigger than my hometown, except there were cows instead of apple trees. I decided against ministry, graduated early and applied to grad school. I've been a motivational speaker and I've waited tables. No one else has lived my life. I'm me, and that alone is unique.
XII. What sets you apart from the crowd? My freakishly sensitive skin. If you brush against me, I will laugh because, yes, it does tickle that much. My nickname in school was Elmo because when I laugh, I turn an unnatural shade of red, and I'm wicked ticklish.
XIII. Which of the Seven Deadly Sins (envy, pride, gluttony, wrath, sloth, greed, lust) do you feel you possess the most? Pride, probably. Though, I consider Pride to be a virtue and self-denial and self-hate to be the sin.
