It had been a long day.  I was wearing my gym clothes from earlier that afternoon and I was sleepy.  I stepped into the shower first, letting the hot water splash against my skin.  He followed me moments later and we stood under the warm stream and we held each other.  When we let go, he stepped back and I smiled at him.  His dark hair was jet black and slicked back under the water and his eyes were warm and friendly, as always.  After a moment, a smile spread across his face and he said, "Rosa Stinson". My mouth opened in surprise and I wanted to laugh with joy.

"That's the first time you've ever said that!" I said.
"I don't think so," he said, "I've said it before."
"No... I'm pretty sure I've said it before, but I don't think you ever have. This one is going on the list!" I crowed, referring to the on-going list of 'moments' in our relationship that I keep on my iPhone.

And then we smiled some more because we both think about it.  Because we both know that one day it's going to materialize into the future us, the future Rosa and Alex, the future Stinson family.
