benedict cumberbatch? HOW GOOD IS THAT SERIES OH MY GOD SWOOOOOOOOON
everything about it!! i'm completely enamoured by the way they do the on screen text, its all poignant without being obvious/tacky (or something, well it's a hell of a lot better than the usual camera pan to a phone with a stock background image & oversized chat-speak) - ok this is kind of petty
BUT he's just such a great smart ass!!
& martin freeman is such a cutie!! omfg

(also, totally ate up the two robert downey jr films om nom nom)

ps. yo

OMFG I KNOW

Why is he so pretty? How does he manage all those perfect expressions and the perfectly-timed snark and dear god I cannot wait for Season 3. The camera-work is frigging awesome, eh? And Lestrade is good and I like Molly too, and Moriarty - perfect. NOT TO MENTION, Watson. Although I keep thinking of him as Arthur Dent. But he is awesome.

And yeah it was totally the movies that got me into it. RDJ & Jude Law, oh man. How does Jude Law make a moustache look sexy? I never thought they were before.

Also the actual Arthur Conan Doyle stories are pretty damn good too, been reading those off Project Gutenberg.

In short: I am hooked. I need to be up in six hours to go to work, but I think I'll just read some more Holmes/Watson fic first.

Even RDJ can't pull it off like Benedict Cumberbatch. He's so not tall and lanky enough, for one. And the accent - BC has the intonation honed to a fine, fine art. He has a lisp in real life, you know, oh my god the things the fangirls are doing to him *______* Panel shows, what? Will have to hunt them up ( ... )

One gets in the habit of the Happy Invasion Day thing if one has followed the melbournemaniac posts with interest... Stayed home and listened to the Hottest 100, myself, though I got collared by my neighbour Bill for an hour-long chat when he came by to bum a cig.

Your icon is terribly hypnotic @-@ This is the last icon I haven't already used, really must upload some more.

Oh no, the original Sherlock Holmes is a tobacco smoker. From Hound of the Baskervilles: My first impression as I opened the door was that a fire had broken out, for the room was so filled with smoke that the light of the lamp upon the table was blurred by it. As I entered, however, my fears were set at rest, for it was the acrid fumes of strong coarse tobacco which took me by the throat and set me coughing. Through the haze I had a vague vision of Holmes in his dressing-gown coiled up in an armchair with his black clay pipe between his lips. There are mentions in the short stories of him going through an ounce of shag tobacco in order to solve a case.

Moriarty was awesome, ( ... )

I liked Lestrade from the get-go, he's just that much more likable than movie-Lestrade, and I guess he's out-of-character from the books (in which he was a boring nonce) but he won my heart when he compared nicotine patches with Sherlock. But yeah Molly I dodn't care much about until that last episode, especially since I'm sure she's the one who saved him ^^

I bawled my face off in that episode, watched that scene a dozen times. Then went off and read some angst. I must be a masochist. That bit of art is frickin perfect.
