Surely no one dare call oneself a revolutionary unless a continual attempt is made to create a revolution in one's own psyche - the ongoing struggle toward the deepening of one's humanity.

hello, this comment has absolutely nothing to do with your post, but i wanted to get in touch with you. i met with teddy twice and it was very awkward; then, afterward, she made lots of bizarre, unfounded accusations via email after i'd left. but part of me still wants to help her - i have no idea why.

another thing - so, i recently started interning in a neuro-oncology lab that does work on the blood-brain barrier.

Rather than treating cancer (tumors) by radiation, they do it by delivering chemotherapies via blood-brain-barrier disruption (as background: brain tumors are much trickier than other forms of cancer because of that pesky blood-brain barrier. Brain capillaries have tighter endothelial lining [no fenestrations / holes, as in tissue of other parts of the body] and therefore chemotherapy -- zapping the tumor cells with toxins carried by the blood -- is a much trickier business: the big, bulky molecules can't get through.)

I wonder if Dr Neuwelt, the head doctor of the dept (and PI of the lab I work in), does pro-bono work... I wonder if it would be worth asking. She has said her tumor is radiation-resistant and inoperable...so perhaps this would be another venue for treatment.

anyway, i am just curious as to news from her end if you have any since the whole lj debacle. i would prefer you not reveal my lj to her or let her know i've been in touch with you, but i do still want to help. i don't know what to make of reedLJers' responses to her. some of it is spot-on in leveling with her, but so much of it is superfluously insensitive. what do you think i should do? i'm in portland right now.
