today me, my aunt, and my niece jasmine went to a craft fair, got ice cream, and went for an ocean drive. this island is absolutely wonderful. when you're driving there are always lush grassy mountains and hills on one side and the ocean on the other. i could never get tired of these views. i can't believe the locals take all of this for granted.
after that we went home, took our naps, and went to poipu where we saw the spouting horn, which is in the first picture above. basically spouting horn is an underwater cave with a hole on top of it, and when the current is strong the water squirts out really high, like a spout on a whale. its pretty neat. after that we went to salt pond (in the seccond picture), which is a small local beach where i'll probably be spending a lot of my time reading these next couple of days. it was a little cloudy these evening, so hopefully i'll have prettier pictures another day.
oh yeah, and check out the fourth picture with the chickens! chickens roam wild here, they're everywhere, even in the wal-mart parking lot! its crazy. they make me nervous because im afraid they'll cross the street and get run over, which unfortunately happens too often.
my aunt says we're going to do all of the tourist stuff first and then the rest of my days will be spent reading! i have a feeling my vacation will go by too quickly. jasmine is a little bit of a handful, however. she's 6 years old, is always talking, and has so much energy! i love her to death, though. she's such a sweet girl, but i'm afraid i won't be able to keep up with her...
