Bored in philosophy review lecture...

I just received an email from my mom in response to an email from me asking about meaning of my last of my name and of her last name (following a conversation with a friend about our names) and I got way more than I asked for:

"Your dada's [grandpa's] father's name was actually Motahar Hossain. I discovered this at your Dada's funeral when the imam had to know this info to declare at the funeral ceremony.

Apparently the family discarded his name and adopted the name of Huq, after a man named A. K . Fazlul Huq who was your dada's mother's cousin (yep work that chain out!!). I believe this was because A. K. Fazlul Huq helped their family after Motahar Hossain died.

If you google/wikepedia 'Sher-e-Bangla' aka A . K. Fazlul Huq there will be some pleasant surprises for you... He was a giant in Bengal and Bengali politics, he is very distantly related to your father (and you) by blood and he was an absolute genius, with ideas way ahead of his time. The street in front of B'desh parliament is named after him 'Sher-Bangla-nagar'.

Your father can fill you in on more of this stuff..

[And here she finally addresses part of my original question and fails =p]
I recall an Middle eastern gentleman in Dhaka telling me the root meaning of my name, but i don't recall what it was."

I knew our family was a big deal on both sides of my family for various reasons, but I didn't realize on my dad's side it was because of a stolen name... haha.

I miss my mom T_T

But I find myself becoming more and more attached to this place; it's absolutely beautiful (on campus ONLY) here, which I didn't expect given the location.
Two friends and I are planning on moving into an apartment together sophomore year; one of them has already started researching because the apartment complex we want is pretty coveted, and she's trying to get us on some kind of list... We're going to go visit the apartments at some point after midterms.

Oh man, midterms. I don't remember being this freaked out in high school. Except for WHAP and pre-calc once or twice.

I'm so hungry. I hope my tummy doesn't yell.
