That annoys me. Why?

They've just been talking about the possibility of someone taking Kara, suddenly an army of Doomsdays appear (against which he shouldn't be of much help, really) while Kara is away somewhere unknown, and only after minutes of fighting he thinks that it might be a diversion and goes to check up on her. I realize this might be my fanboy prejudice speaking, but I kind of expected better tactical awareness from him.
