I think a lot about things like this

Laserlike energy weapons, although fast, are usually ineffectual against Jedis, because they have a narrow profile, and Jedi "reflexes" (actually, very short-term kinetic precognition) allow them to block shots with lightsabers.

What you want, instead, is a wide area, fast rate weapon. Even if its shots are slower, lightsabers only cover a very ( Read more... )

in fact, in canon, Jango Fett drives off a Jedi with a flamethrower blast, but later forgets that it worked. And goes back to aiming for the lightsaber, like all the rest of the goons.

Actually, it's not terribly apparent in the films, but blasters are supposed to be explosive weapons, the bolts decohere when they hit something, and do blast damage, hence the name. So even with standard blasters, you'd probably be best served by aiming near the Jedi, but out of lightsaber range, and getting them with splash.

to be mean, the worst way to kill a Jedi would probably be to toss a bucket or bag of kerosene at them. I'd bet good money half of them would have the lightsaber halfway through it by the time they realized what a bad idea it was.

something about genetic supermen brings out the bitter garage weaponist in me.

Did you ever see that "What If?" where the Punisher never figures out that Spider-man is a good guy? He beat Peter's spidersense after a lot of trouble with it by building mannequin dressed up like Doc Ock, and puts it in the window of a building to cast a menacing shadow, so Peter jumps in, sensing the danger Ock is putting out, not realizing the danger isn't Ock, but the TNT Frank put inside the doll. Ka-blam, dodge that, web-head.

Frank of course figures out that he was good guy afterwards, and ends up assuaging his guilt by taking down all the major Spidey villains of the day, including the Jackal from the thrice-damned Clone Saga.

But I thought it was a pretty neat hack to get around danger sense.

That was a good idea. Targets with precog abilities present interesting challenges.
