Apr 26, 2007 01:10

Title: 172
Fandom: DC Comics
Prompt: #16, God.
Word Count: About a hundred and thirty.
Rating: PG13
Disclaimer: DC Comics owns all characters involved. Not that Oracle pays too much attention to things like that.
Summary: There's no such thing as a guaranteed happy ending, but that doesn't mean one is impossible.
Author Notes: A sort of mash-up with A Better World.

'The League cannot be everywhere at the same time.' Leave it to Batman to phrase an invitation to a worldwide coup in the form of a banality.

He is right. Flash could have, but Flash is dead. From the point of view of most of the Leaguers, that's the why of all this. But Barbara had been the one breaking into Luthor's shadow ICBM controls. The one who stopped his apocalyptic gambit literally with only seconds to spare.

She knows just how close they had all been. And she can be everywhere, in her own fashion. Force might be the ultimate backing of a government, but information is its day-to-day currency.

Barbara nods. "You know my father would have tried to stop you, don't you?"

"Jim was a good man, but we can't live forever in our parents' shadows."

Barbara laughs softly. The new world is only minutes old, and there are already marvels in it.
