Welll, there's your problem! You say all that like it's a bad thing!

The whole Fast franchise has already transitioned from Street racer criminals to international freelance spec ops to vehicular superheroes.

Hobbs and Shaw is the next logical step: Idris Elba: Actual Literal Supervillain.

:P I'm not opposed to superheroics (to say the least), it's the psychology of the teamup that bothers me. It's like they took a Total Opposites 80's buddy cop script, and dialed the mannerisms well into the behavioral uncanny valley. Granted, "dialogue actual human beings might conceivably speak" isn't the franchise's forte, but perhaps the increased focus of the buddy cop format heightens the nails-on-blackboard effect.

Idris Elba as Actual Literal Supervillain is fine. Arguably Cipher was already one - a sort of psychopath Oracle with a flying base of operations.
