things you should probably know first:
i'm in college and therefore don't take any crap of uneducated nature outside of the matter of joking.
politics is my favorite topic for laughs, as indicated by FO Banner
i am a member of
ontd_twatlight. go look it up before you make any mistakes that will lead to my intense judgment of you and possible future tendencies to ignore you.
apple is the shiz and Bill Gates is a failure. i don't want to hear your crap about your virus filled, boring, lack of customer service oriented windows computer being so much better for nerdy things like programming, gaming, and whatnot. even microsoft office for macs is better and can run on my superior OS. and apples are intel based now, in case you didn't know. what what? is that silence i hear?
i'm a kid stuck in a 21 year old's body.
but as an adult, i drink, interact with boys, used to smoke, and am not against drugs (all of which are discussed in this lj at some point). so deal with my drunk posts as they often bring smiles and giggles to those who read them. :D
IF A BAND OR PERFORMER DOES NOT KICK ASS LIVE, I WILL DELETE ALL OF THEIR MUSIC AND ERASE THEM FROM MY LIFE. the whole point of music is to be enjoyed live.
sarcasm is an important tool in my every day speech and one must be able to differentiate between 'true facts' bitching and simple sarcasm
i tell the truth. don't try and go searching for a fake compliment
i'm a super supportive friend. i'll always be there NO MATTER WHAT. so you diss my friends, prepare for my wrath.
i love long road trips with friends
i love random adventures
my favorite part of the day tends to be the alone time i have in my car to and from class
i love animals and was once vegan
i love concerts and plays
i love musicals and broadway
i have a rule that i must read a book before i see any visual adaptation of it.
i love Disney classics and tear up on the nostalgia of it all.
i also am not afraid to appreciate the 'new' Disney, as i love Disney Channel, Radio Disney and (SHUT UP, THE IMAGINATION MOVERS ARE BAD ACE) Playhouse Disney.
Disney things I dislike: those animated tv series for just Disney Channel, plans to expand past HSM3, not (yet) being employed by Disney, not being allowed to win RD contests based on age, that Walt Disney is dead.
i'm from new orleans, so i refuse to hear or accept any business about people choosing to live in 'danger zones' or in an outdated society. i also refuse to believe that the racism and faults of our city are any worse or better than another. at least we can drink outside and enjoy european things that i feel americans are missing out on.
i love european lifestyles and was once fluent in french but it's not too shabby now.
i refuse to join a political party but if you must know, i'm more on the liberal side of societal issues. i also think that i have no true authority about financial matters since i have never worked a full time job and my parents still manage my taxes, bills, etc. i also refuse to take on their views, so i simply bow out of fiscal discussions for now.
i'm a religion major. i love and accept the diversity of religion and will discuss all religions, along with anything else that might pertain to it. like the dictionary's improper definition of cult and how National Geographic did a poor job of dissecting Jesus in a recent special.
i'm a presbyterian but i am not like most protestants because i do not put scripture above all else. i would say my personal faith puts me more under the category of eastern orthodoxy. i also fit under agnostic thought since, as humans, we can't fully understand the divine and how it works. we can only go on emotions, feeling, and cultural context/perspective, leading to the diverse selection of religions, none of which can be proven to be right or wrong. when we die, we'll all have it figured out. but until then, calm the fuck down with your fundamentalism and actually try to make the world a better place with positive thoughts and actions. my model of the Christian God and the Trinity are true to me and what i believe in but if it proves to be otherwise, it doesn't matter. as long as my belief gives me a purpose here and makes me a better person, i should be able to attain spiritual enlightenment/ascension/nirvana, etc.
i respect the bible as a spiritual guide and am not concerned as to whether or not the narratives are in any way factual. i also do not accept it as the final word on any of my beliefs since the Old Testament was written for a culture that no longer exists and the New Testament has a history of imperfection regarding canonization. this is not meant to be offensive, but a matter of fact. however, this does not mean the bible is wrong or should be thrown out. but, rather, studied academically and historically beyond just faith interpretation.
anyone who tells me buddhism is not a religion but a way of thinking needs to learn their shit and GTFO out of my lj. religion is a way of thinking and buddhism involves spiritual enlightenment, with scripture and prophets. it fits the definition of religion.
i am allowed to have my 'shallow' vices, such as celebrity gossip, stupid-funny movies, and shows of little or no value like 90210
when i love something in pop culture, i jump headfirst into the fanbase. examples of fanbases i am tied up in: Supernatural, Harry Potter, Narnia, etc.
i like to read all kinds of books, ranging from teen (Dear Dumb Diary is a favorite) to intensely deep books and, obviously, any book pertaining to religion.
i don't think it's necessary to read the classics. the authors should definitely be recognized as great writers and respected for their books surviving through the decades, but i think the hype of these books is overrated. i enjoy quite a bunch of them but do not see the incessant 'they change your life' category they are put under. each book is different for each reader.
i enjoy shakespeare and actually understand what he's saying. it's not confusing for me but i couldn't tell you why.
dane cook is hilarious. i don't care if it's stereotypical of me to like him. i can and will quote him often.
i love listening to music and couldn't peg down any genre or artist ever. i have a special love for oldies, motown, jazz, and zydeco. but i love literally everything.
i play guitar, piano, and drums (which includes everything from drumset to tympani to triangle) and also sing.
i write music but it's personal and never share it. ever.
if you have a problem with anything i say beyond just the spark of educated discussion (such as why you believe this or that) then i encourage you to fully ignore what i've said. i've never said something truly offensive to anyone before, so that shouldn't be an issue.
i don't think you can get even a small percentage of who i am from a list.
