Many many many many many people stop breathing in their sleep. Its fucking frightening for the one who is laying there witnessing it! Either way I think whats happening is more of a case of your body adjusting to you not giving it as much of a beating,it doesn't get it, its waiting to be dragged through the alcoholic haze and having to deal with the next day(s).

Good on you though! Changing anything be it several or one aspect like , not eating white bread can change mood dramatically.

As I said, bloody scary and amazing how our bodies react to our ways, or indeed, not react.

On the work front, hmm I would assume the guys mind was made up when he gave that speech on Friday. I wouldn't take it to heart too much, it is most likely a combination of everything, you already know this of course.

Yea, it seems in the US it happens at some level to one in five people (and since it's mainly males, it's probably like 1 in 3 guys). It seems the only thing I can do it try and lose a little weight. Yay. :P

OH joy of joys! aren't you so happy its come down to this! *coughs*

Both not drinking as much and eating better rather than eating less so to speak will definitely help, but as we know it takes time....time time tiiiiiiiiiiiiime! grr.

Maybe more drinking and dancing would be a more interesting combination. It worked for me back in the day....hmm gets harder though.

yeah, drinking and dancing is good, as long as you don't end up with those end of night souvlaki's!

and i find the occasional splash of not-drinking-tm and dancing, and not eating for 2 days is wicked! i tend to fluctuate up to 5kgs within a couple weeks sometimes :/

from what you've outlined sounds like your actually high on this guys friends list (he does have a myspace right ?) because your the one person who's actually been around for him to communicate with, regardless of how successful thats been.

as for the apnea thing... its highly likely i get it as well, scared the crap out of a few girlfriends listen to me 'snore' (or to be more precise, sound like i'm choking and dying)... always worse when i'm sick and when i've been drinking (think a lot has to do with mucus buildup) and even on nights when i get a more healthy 8-10 hours sleep i can still feel very unrested... actually its very rare i ever feel nicely rested regardless of how much i've slept. also i'm asthmatic and i'm sure that doesn't help either, and have a cat that loves to sleep on my neck. and have girlfriends that want to kill me while i sleep.

but definately worth going to a GP and ask some questions, there could be tests or just some confirmation and good advice. (i've never thought to ask about it myself)

Actually Jarod, I got this Nasonex stuff a while back. Apparently it can help with the snoring (assuming it's more asthma, nasal stuff related). The doc said it would help my allergies and snoring and was "the Rolls Royce of nasal sprays"...it might help you, unless it's actually a GRS^ issue.

Hello - I found this post via neonfaerie's flist! Yes, I'm weird :P

My boyfriend suffers from sleep apnoea. He has to wear a mask at night which is called a CPAP machine and has something to do with Continuous Positive airflow something... anyway, it basically blows air up his nose and forces him to breathe.

The Alfred Hospital does have a sleep clinic, they tape things to your head (liquorice, batteries, sheep) and do studies, n'stuff. I'm sure they could help you out :)

Hehehe cool, thanks for the info. I don't really think I have one of the more serious versions, but yea I'll see if the doc thinks I should be referred I guess. I've gained a few pounds over the last year or so, so I reckon that's probably the cause.

I like the mask idea... that or a pillow... if not you might soon suffer from GRS. ;)

I like the ear plug idea too...

Seriously honey I doubt it will get any worse, especially when your snoring has lessened over the past few weeks.

Hope the apnea gets better soon.

Knowing what an easy going Jedi you are I doubt, even with a mild case of the tired crankies, you're the reason the Padawan is leaving.

I never noticed you doing that, but it's been a long time since I shared a bed with you. Come to think of it you never really snored much or loudly. Not to poke a sensitive topic with a stick, but have you put on weight in the last couple of years? Sleep apnea is pretty hardcore, and I'm not under the impression that one just gets it spontaneously.
