things have definitely been looking up lately.
i have had interviews at both applebee's and tumbleweed... i haven't heard a definite answer from either place yet, they have both agreed to talk to managers at locations in lousiville to help secure a transfer position for me and i am expecting calls from them on tuesday or wednesday. cracker barrel aslo called me to confirm my hours of availablity and to ask if i did indeed want to transfer to lousiville at the end of the summer... they have promised to call me back as well... i hope to be employed again within a week.
and aside from the positive outlook of my job hunt, i have had an interesting bit of good luck these past couple days. i ran out of gas the other day (my own stupidity... i had been holding out for a drop in gas prices since my current income is, well, zero) thankfully i was right in front of my church when this happened and was able to park safely in my church's lot. there is a gas station just up the road, about a 15 minute walk away so i just started walking. i got to the gas station and picked up a gas can and went to get in line. there was this guy by the check out counter checking lotto tickets, he had big glasses and a beard and his hands and shirt were dirty with grease and oil. he offered to let me go ahead of him in line and as i stepped in front of him he said, "run out of gas, huh? i've been there before, how far away is your car? would you like a ride back so you don't have to walk?" i hesitated a bit before i answered, not sure if i should accept a ride from him or not... and he just smiled at me and said, "i'm going that way anyway, i work at the body shop just past there and i want to help you out." so i agreed. not only did he drive me back up there, he filled my tank for me and took my keys and primed my fuel pump for me... "i don't mind helping you out, good deeds are a way of life for me. i wouldn't want to see a girl like you stranded, i'm glad you were in an area you know where people are friendly. don't you worry about me, i'll need help someday and somebody will be there for me too... take care of yourself, ok?" talk about uplifting. times like that renew my hope in this world, renew my belief in the good of my fellow man.
